Some people just don't think things through at first. Giving OP the benefit of the doubt, I'm hoping he says "oh shit" that's a good idea and does the right thing.

When you live through a disaster
    Fire everywhere around you

You sleep on your driveway for days

    You have no water
You can’t go anywhere due to broken roads and bridges and have no access

You have young kids and you look into their eyes as you remain helpless

You have all your neighbors in your million dollar houses which have no foundation
Your expensive cars that are crushed

When that happens to YOU and you are not watching it on TV, but you ARE the one on tv, you realize how important FEMA or other agencies are in a time of need

You would NEVER EVER take $ from someone else who needs it ...

Instead of spending it on my truck, I will spend it on fixing my house that actually got damaged by the storm.

    Thanks for everyone's inputs :)

Hey, send it to me. My wife and I donated $500 to the Red Cross after Hurricane Harvey, and my company matched it for a total of $1000.

We did that on the belief that people actually needed help and weren't going to PISS AWAY our HARD EARNED money on toys.

I survived through Harvey when everyone around me lost everything. A local tattoo shop was doing tattoos with 100% proceeds going to the local JJ watt foundation, not the Red Cross. I myself am not made of money but I did contribute a few hundred to the cause because I knew it would get to the people who desperately needed it. There are people still right now just down the road from my shop (Addicks reservoir area) that still have no place to live, no vehicles, etc. OP should give/donate that to someone who really needs the help.

lol everyone here is flexing their internet morals

push come to shove I bet if half of you received this check yall would have kept it and the only difference would be not taking it onto a TW thread asking others how you should go about spending it....

OP dont feel too bad, using the 400 for some struts is in no way nearly as bad as some of the other scams taking place right now by guys in suits carrying a few extra digits on their hand out...

everyone here bashing the OP should pick up a phone and call their local politicians

maybe complain a little bit instead of flaming someone on TW

    try fixing an issue...
