    You mean smaller companies that don't sell via Amazon? While maybe true, that's also the beauty of a free market economy. People will pay what they feel is the best value, which will drive to a lower more optimized market long-term.

    The vendor I buy our toner and computer parts from sometimes can't compete with Amazon and he's fine with telling me that. Doesn't hurt his feelings at all since we still go to him for the bigger priced stuff

    Yes and no - The thing about Amazon is that it allows smaller companies to actually have the opportunity to sell. Walmart only has so much space in a store, while Amazon has unlimited space in their "store." So while it is driving costs down, it's worth noting that it's opening way more doors for products and companies to actually get into the hands of consumers. i.e you'd never see an Escaper Buddy at Walmart next to a bar of soap or diapers.

    Amazon's margins are notoriously low, as they leverage a quantity scale model. Sell more at lower margin vs sell less at high margin. It might hurt companies that are also selling their own products while also on Amazon (i.e. competing against themselves), but as a retail storefront they don't have the same reputation of hammering their suppliers on cost vs Walmart.

    Either way, sort of off topic. The key is that these puppies are cheap and you might have even found a cheaper alternative! Cheers!

    Amazon could've also dropped price when they saw people were buying/interested and trying to clear the shelves of them. Could be a version 1 and the manufacturer wants to stock the version 2?
