No I got better shit to do than sit in front of the TV. Like today was drop kid off at school, meal prep/make grocery list, laundry, cleaning, pick kid up, grocery store, go to the park, relax a bit, go to dance, get home, and settle in for the night.

No you make friends with some of the more experienced guys and then see if they'll ride with you and give you advice on when to brake the line to take and when to accel. Depending on how tight the course is you may never get out of 2nd gear.

Make time for other things take the dog somewhere for a hike, go on a bike ride, research new places to go camping, wheeling, etc. then make plans to go. Most of my time on the CPU is spent researching places to go getting ideas for trips and then figuring out when I can make it happen.

Unless you have done an auto-x before; going straight to a times event is a bad idea.

Do you have an approved helmet?
Are you aware you have to work the track, when your group isn’t running?

Most SCCA clubs offer a “novice school” a couple times a year. I would suggest taking that class before heading out the first time.

My first time auto-x’ing in my s2k, I went to the novice school and learned a ton because all the instructors were the guys who have been doing it a long time and they ride along with you on each run giving pointers and guiding you around the course.

Had I went straight to a timed event, I would have been completely overwhelmed and probably embarrassed myself.

    HELP!

I’m at autozone. I need a new battery. I don’t understand the benefits and such. Should I go duralast or Optima Gel battery or just stick with a standard duralast 3 or 5 year deal

What'd you go with? AGM like a Optima(alleged lower quality since production moved south) or Autoparts brand AGM Platinum batteries are Absorbed Glass Matt, meaning no loose water/acid sloshing around able to leak out, better vibration handeling, sometimes higher capacity, and can be mounted in any orientation. AGM batteries require a higher charge voltage though.

throw it on a smart charger once a month and it'll be good.

believe there is a mod for the 2nd gens that lets the alternator charge at a higher voltage?

Could always do a solar setup, he's in AZ so there is no lack of sunshine.

I went with a duralast AGM platinum... $210 OTD with 3 year warranty. What do I need to worry about with the charge?

I just like making people freak out a little, especially the ones that don't do the slightest research on their own.
