    Howdy all,
Stuck in Whitehorse for the nght, need some rear shock bushings, lost one down around Dawson Creek, and just missed the NAPA store. May have to just get new shocks, but loath to continue on north, that stretch after Kluane lake is a spring buster for sure. So camping out north of town tonite then tomorrow the search begins.
Background- finally taking the 98 home foe aome work, towing a 10' box trailer full of bikes for a buddy.
Have to contact the boss looks like I'll be a day + late for work.
Any other options besides NAPA here?
    Cheers,

Can't you just run your rig with worn shock bushings till you get to your destination? Do you have any pics of your problem? Worse comes to worse, you can run without shocks but I'd probably just run with the old bushings in there.

How does a shock bushing fall out?

x2, you don't need rear shocks to drive, just to drive comfortably.

Since I was towing a 10' box trailer and was on a deadline to get back to work I figured I would see if I find something that day or could make something work, then I would do that. If I couldn't then I would just take it slow and easy and get back late so be it. Running stock rear springs with an AAL
So I found some used dakota? shocks at a dealer's dumpster and used the old shock bushings out of them, had some longer bolts and picked up a bushing from , gasp , the Nissan dealer and got it back together. Nothing on hand from any of the auto parts stores i tried, the standard reply was we can have it here in 2-3 days.
Since the road between Haines junction and Beaver creek is kinda like a paved moto cross track, I bent a trailer deck going through there about 4 years ago, hauling a D50 up on a trailer behind my diesel. Didn't want to go that route, cuts resale value.
I found both shocks hanging (1 with no bushings and one with the inside one alone) while doing a walk around the trailer during a fuel stop south of Dawson Creek, on a Saturday afternoon. The previous owner must have used shorter bolts, they slowly vibrated out. I looked inside the mount and the half the threads were clean and the rest were dirty/surface rust.
They had one Rancho shock with a 1-1/2" lift at the new Canadian Tire store in Dawson Creek, since I wasn't sure exactly what the original shocks were I figured I would try to make it to Whitehorse and see if they would have something. Got there 20 minutes after closing on Monday so I thought there might be some TW folks around that would have some ideas where I could find something.
I got back a bit late and went straight out to the end of the Denali NP road to Wonder Lake to work, been out of cyber land for a bit, very nice.
Thanks for the ideas, alumaman, it all worked out fine. I'll keep that bit of data in the memory for my southern trip this fall.
Looks like the rest of the rear suspension work has been moved up on the timeline, after the back bumper I think.
    Cheers
