SOTEC Newbie Run 101, 2024

This is 30 minutes away from Loggers Station House near Ardbeg: https://maps.app.goo.gl/x6uqfuCpZ2PtcTF98 There are also a few hotels in Parry Sound that are about 40 minutes away from Loggers.

I prefer hotels or day runs in June-July due to heat and mosquitoes. I'm happy to camp from August onwards.

 

I’d be down for a day run…but that’s only because I don’t have a proper camping setup yet lol.

 

Same here, especially with kids.

 

Tent and a bag. Doesn’t need to be fancy

 

For me, not so much. With my wife and 80lb German pointer…I’ve learned my standards and theirs can be wildly different. Oh, and apparently I’ve been raving non-stop about how awesome the newb run was so, yeah, it’ll be a family thing from here on out.

It’s usually my wife and 2 Spinone’s out on the trail. We use the gazelle tent. So far so good. Hoping to bring them to the next one. One of my dogs was sick so the wife stayed home with him on the last run.

We have them tied up and what not and on easier trails they are good to go.

 

This is a good sign.

those tents look interesting, but are lower on my list of priorities than new skids/sliders. My OEM skid took a small hit on the run and it’s starting to crumble like gingerbread lol. Choices choices…

Btw, met a spinone a few years back, awesome dogs!

 

I'm starting to lean this way too. Haven't camped in 20 years, seems like a good opportunity to try this again
I can borrow a tent from a buddy of mine. I just hope it's not one of those 5-room/sleeps 12 ones....

Hear ya. Always something and usually it all costs money.

love the German pointers. My uncle use to breed them a while back and trained them for hunting.
He got into the spinones (which is why I have two now…). The one you may have seen could be a sun/daughter to my dogs. He was one of the only breeders of that dog for a while of memory serves me correctly.

sounds like Ardbeg is going to be the next run.
