Sound dampening plus installation of JL audio C5 components in doors

Here’s another update on a JL audio speaker system in my 2002 taco. Just to give you other 1st Gen folks ideas.

Were did you pick up the plastic you made that cover with. I just put a later of GTMat them Rammat foam draped over the whole door.

 

What was that black piece for Ryan?

 

Black piece is a piece of ABS I bought on Amazon . Used tape on window sealant (gray stuff)on the back. I will create another piece to cover the other hole. This will seal the entire door for the speaker.

I’m going to sink some money into the work truck in the coming weeks and have been eyeballing the JL stealthbox. How good do those components sound?

 

Would you mind listing the parts or a link to the parts you used?

I'm looking to insulate my doors and upgrade speakers this year too.

Not sure how they sound yet, I’m not done yet. I work on it about an hour per night taking my time. I’ll be sure to post more pics as I go and let you know if I can tell a difference between these and my old Infinity Kappa 6x8s

I got the window seal (grey strips like type) at Ace Hardware

I got the plastic screw bolts to drill and insert into the door at Auto Zone

 

Done with doors

Next, sound dampening back wall behind subwoofer.

Then moving on the the engine for headers!

These C5 sound amazing! You can really hear all the details. I don’t even need rears anymore (which I removed).

 

Note

No need to cut the metal on the door. I didn’t on the driver door a the speaker fit fine.
