Okay I paid to have my car sound deadening in the doors and back where the subwoofers will be going. They doubled up on the Fatmat for the rear of my truck where the floor and back boards are for the subwoofer box.

I opened my doors and they did a great job by putting the Fatmat all the way on the door instead of on the outer layer like I see on most jobs.

I was not expecting Fatmat but they ran out of Dynamat however these guys have been around everything looks great honestly.

First thing I noticed is that my music sounds so different and not in a good way…more bassy in fact I get voltage drops now when the music starts hitting really hard (the volume drops just guessing voltage drop)

could this be because the sound deadening is affecting the acoustics and causing too much bass for the speakers to now handle?

I tried eq’ing which I still suck at and brought the highs up made sure Treble is slightly higher than bass but still I keep getting the whole thing where my volume drops when my metal is really kicking in hard.

I used to be able to put the volume to 31 (which is very loud) not I can only to 27.

Perhaps I need to lower the gains on my little 200 watt Alpine amp?

I’m just a little disappointed because I had the sound dialed in and now it is like starting all over again.

I still have 2 12” subs to put in this truck once I receive my box from Marv.

I just want my music to stop lowering volume when I juice my music up.

So did the sound deadening cause this? Because they did not put any sound deadening behind the door speakers again just right on the door instead behind everything…the doors are definitely sturdy when I pop them with my hand.

BTW…eventually I will be upgrading my door speakers as these are Infinity Reference only 50 watts per channel…so those 2 Audiofrog GB12D4’s will probably be blowing them away so I’ll have the output knob turned down in the subs for a while, lol…but still for the meantime I’m still going to make the most of these cheaply priced speakers and amp I got from Crutchfield.
Crutchfield was way too conservative with me and did not realize just how much power and headroom I really need…as of now I have no headroom I’m on the cusp…but now with the sound deadening the volume lowers. It’s annoying.

I should add that the battery in my truck is 5 and a half years old and perhaps maybe my ground wire is not grounded as well as it should be?

I may just take it to the shop they did tell me I could bring my truck there if I had any issues.

This is minor really…and I really wish I knew how to properly eq…that would help solve so much.

That has zero to do with voltage.

I was told that on Reddit…that’s why I mentioned it.

…but yes I have to dial down my gains from where I had them or else I keep getting the volume going down on me everytime my music starts hitting really good and hard…never had this problem before getting sound deadening…maybe my speakers finally had enough.
I’m still using 80hz on the dipswitches there is no way I can go down to 60Hz but I can move them up to 120hz.

Just kind of odd how my sound completely changed on me and the volume lowering on me everytime I have my music where I really like it.
…just going to spend plenty of hours with the eq.

Not odd at all. You've changed the acoustics of your listening environment with all of the sound deadening.

Nope. Not possible, not even scientifically a thing.

Much more likely that something got bumped, misconnected or changed when the install happened.

Check all your connections, switches, settings etc...

And yes a battery on it's last legs would explain the drop in output when the amp is really working. Any dimming lights too? Truck slow to start?

You have no idea how many people want to do things with no idea as to why they want to do them. Or what the outcome is supposed to be like.

For example: a customer calls and asks for a new circuit up to their second floor.

I get there and find a completely finished basement, and the panel behind a door smaller than the panel cover is wide and tall.

Ummm ok....I can run a pipe outside to where you'd like the outlet. No, that looks ugly.

Ok then. I'm going to be making several holes in the walls and ceiling if you want me to hide this... Why?

At least once a month I get something like this in ones form or another.

I get it! Obviously we have to start near zero when researching something we know nothing about so I can empathize on that front. However, I lose patience when just enough research is done to get the 50,000' view. Yes, not everyone needs to know the nitty-gritty but heading off down a road mostly blind gets folks into this situation. Funny how, not always but often its someone wanting a quick/easy job and thinking just throwing money at it will yield the desired results.

    *steps off soapbox*

Funny you mention electrical work: I have always wanted a big aquarium and in our new house, the largest footprint we could spare was 4x2 so I got a 120gal tank. Had the stand custom built but before I dared set it up I ran a dedicated circuit to the outlet behind it. Installed a new outlet with a switch on it and then wired the stand with it's own electrical box w/ a switch. A LOT of planning went into this (~ a year) before I ever put water in the tank. Thorough game plans!

Yes quite an extensive one…9 band parametric…simple…crossover setting…tlr timing thing…problem is I still suck at knowing how to eq properly but I’m learning…it’s just that I had everything sounding perfect now I’m just starting all over.
No biggie really but I suspect my battery is on its last leg.

Well, technically it is. If you treat the cab as an part of the system, you've created a dual cavity enclosure and can have a fundamental frequency that resonates with the mechanical characteristics of the cone, overdriving, and damaging it.
    But that's not happening here..

The length of a 30 HZ sound wave is about 30 feet. That means its wrapping/reflecting around the inside of the cab 4-6 times. Massive standing wave(s). Good luck.

OP you added rigidity which now reflects the signal rather than distorting it. Now you need absorption..or roll down the windows

Well…spent about 5 hours eq’ing and now it’s back to sounding phenomenal…in fact better than ever. :)
I just started back at flat and went on from there.

I both love and hate this.

Now my head unit keeps locking up. No biggie but I may have toasted it, lol
There is a 2 year warranty on this unit and hey maybe an excuse to get a bigger one . ‍♂️

Pulling Everything out just to make sure nothing came loose.

UPDATE: It’s a problem with my iPhoneSo I’m gonna have to see how I’m going to fix this

I have the IPhone 11 Pro Max and am not buying another IPhone.

I fixed it and it was the new updated lossless high-resolution downloads messing things up.

It worked fine before so I’m calling Apple to see what’s up.

I went ahead and loaded a bunch of flac files to a usb and that works perfectly.
…but Apple needs to fix the issue with lossless high-definition downloaded files stopping after 15 seconds…right now tons of people are having the same problem…only when going to high resolution lossless it only plays 15 seconds which did not happen until today…when I put everything to lossless on settings…everything works perfectly and honestly I hear zero difference between lossless and high resolution lossless anyway.
