Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster. I have been having a strange sound coming from the front of my truck for awhile now and of course I neglected it for several months now to where it is now very loud and concerning. I originally thought is was a suspension issue, but after listening for it outside while someone drove it, it seems like it is actually coming from the center of the truck. It makes the sound at low speeds while driving, braking, and turning especially. I have attached a video for you to see and hear. Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated.

ho! the sound is pretty loud and sharp sounding, if it's worn bushing, the rubber bushing is totally gone! sounds like heavy tin clanking, lol
did or does it squeak alot bouncing the front end when at a stand still
great video of your problem btw

I'm not a mechanic but just saying

Thanks for the reply! What bushings and where would I find them...?

Like I say I'm no mechanic and I'd have a mechanic take a look at it if I didn't know know where to start or how to start looking that could rule out things that could be making the noise. I had a 2wd Ranger that squeaked a lot and made noises turning, going over bumps but not near the level in your video. Now, i would think you got a 4wd and more moving parts to think about, idk. Turned out to be a uca bushing, it really squeaked just pushing/lifting my bumper, at one point I thought if I didn't do anything soon a wheel would have buckled loose.

Sorry I can't help you but just wanted to say something here.

I guess you asked here 1st to fix it yourself, before heading off to see a mechanic.

I’m gonna try and look a little harder tomorrow and see if I can figure anything more out before taking it in. Gonna check all the bushings and see if it’s one of those. Appreciate the input!

That has weird metallic sound, have you checked the spare tire to see if its loose even though that shouldn't produce that metallic sound?

I didn’t check the tire specifically but I checked the rear leafs. I feel it subtly in my steering wheel when I’m turning

To me it sounds like it could be one of 3 things:

Rear spare tire could be loose.
    Front skid plate is loose.
Leaf springs are rubbing or have some rust on them.

I appreciate the response but I did check the rear leafs already and when the video was taken the skid plate was off. I don’t think it’s a loose spare tired since the sound comes from up front and I can feel it in my steering wheel when I’m turning

Hmm. Do you have anything done to your suspension? Usually aftermarket shocks and lifts have some weird noises like this. I swear I hear your leaf springs squeaking in the video. Its hard to tell.

Ya the video isn’t the best unfortunately being taken from the driver. The springs do squeak but that’s not the creaky loud sound I’m concerned about. I do have bilstein 6112s on the front for 2.75” of life

leaf spring squeak is really normal so no issue there.
I would say maybe you could check the top hats of the from coil overs to make sure all 3 bolts are tight. It sometimes also helps to have a friend drive the truck in a parking lot and you stand outside and listen for exactly where the noise is coming from.

Did you get new UCAs with your suspension? How long ago? Could need to be greased

    Yes
Long shot here also no mechanic but when I did my suspension I had a similar noise it was from the sway bar not being completely tight I know you said it sounded like it was from the center but I just thought I’d give you another idea of where to check best of luck
