I may have to try that, and am guessing it would be an RCA cable connected to the Head Unit, which might explain why slapping the dash will temporarily correct it. (?)

Yes, factory/stock Head Unit. Not the JBL package upgrade option.

Also if the issue was there stock and its still there with an amp then its most likely that its at the plug to the tweeter, the factory wiring from the HU to the tweeter, or the HU itself. I dont know how they wired it for the AMP, if they rewired it then that would eliminate the stock plugs and wiring.

Basically based off what youve said the remaining possibilities are the HU itself or any stock wiring that remains in use. That would include the plug for speaker out on the HU (if they just cut and soldered to the stock plug), the tweeter plug (if not rewired). If it was there stock, then ignore my earlier advice to check the amp output voltages.

First check the voltages into the amp for that channel, front left should be white and white/black.

If theres no voltage when the speakers arent working then its back to the HU plug or the HU.

If there is voltage and the stock wire is being used still then its either at the plug or in the stock wiring.

assuming this happened after the speaker swap, i would check the rca cable at the loc/ amp.

Line out converter, if you have one, you might just have wire to RCA solders. You stated this was there stock though, so LOC wasnt there then.

Yes, Head Unit is stock and wire harnesses are stock, which all speakers all directly connected to... I've read that it is preferrd to wire speakers directly to amp, but maybe this wasn't done because I have an EQ?

You're describing a sustained cutout, so a drop in current. If there's no sound at all then a complete drop. The easiest way to find this is to get a meter and measure voltages and find the point where it drops out. Other methods would be to take things off and replace and thats quite a bit more work. Its unfortunate you're in Texas, I'd love to help if you were close.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Looking forward to my upcoming fishing trip in Seattle and Vancouver BC, though.

The cut out is actually intermittent. It comes and goes, which is actually more annoying than if it were sustained. Slapping the dash eliminates the cut out, temporarily, but then it often comes back, especially after turning the truck off and starting it up again.

Going off topic really quick, is that a Bengal? I have one, he's "interesting", but great.

Here's some pics of what I did after work today. Removed most of the dash, and the Head Unit, and discovered this odd contraption, possibly the infamous Line Out Converter, with 2 exposed wires. (see last pic) Capped those and can't replicate the issue. I may have solved it...

Did you figure out if that harness was the issue?
I have the same issue in my 2018 and I have to turn the volume very loud for a second in order to fix it.

    It’s literally driving me insane!

Henry - I'm having it looked at today. I thought I had fixed it by capping an unused wire on the LOC and then replaced my after market 4 channel amp. Unfortunately, the problem has returned worse than ever and I just couldn't stand it anymore. I'll follow up with what I found out.
