I'm having a install done in 2 weeks. Just going with one 10 inch sub. That all I had in my other tacomas and also I only have one in my car. This is just my opinion one is plenty. I have read where guys put two in and they wished they would have just went with one. Maybe this will help.

i have two shallow 12"s and they sound great. I can see how they can be too loud.

It's not about the size of the sub as long as you have a well built box and good clean power.

2 10's is plenty as I have 1 10 inch JL Audio shallow mount and it bangs

I went with two eights and couldn't be happier. I actually have the low end level turned down a bit. I wasn't trying to be that guy at the red light, just wanted a rich quality sound. I guess it depends on what you're trying to accomplish.image.jpg

I'm going with one 10" Image Dynamics IDQ. I guess it's a bit oversized for a 10", Marv says it measures more like 11"

That totally depends on what you are looking to get out of the bass in your system!

That it does my good man and an excellent sounding sub IMO! :)

BTW, IMO there is no such thing as "too much bass" as you can always turn it down if it overpowers the front stage however if you don't have enough bass you can't turn it up any more once you reach the limit!

Great choice! I know the DC and AC are obviously different but in "My Audio Build" in the Audio section I just went through the process of redoing the entire stereo in my AC (kept the stock HU, however) and I went with the Image Dynamics IDQ10 v4 d4. It's my second IDQ10 i've owned and honestly it can get too loud for the truck. I have to keep the gains at like 50% and then my bass knob is at 50% and that's PLENTY of bass for the small cab. I have it sitting in a down firing sealed box:

**If it looks like the legs of the box aren't long enough that's because they aren't. Supercrew sounds is redesigning a box for me to fit better.

And yes, the IDQ10 is a large 10" sub. It's super beefy. I can only imagine what the IDMAX 10" is like.

I saw your build. I have lurking in the audio section quite a bit lately. Lol

I hoping to do this once and do it right. Marv is building me a box now. Once I get the box and adaptors in all I need to buy is the sub itself and wiring and I'll have it all done. Maybe I should do a build?
