I have a 2020 tacoma and drive mainly in the city. My city streets are poorly maintained and have been patched dozens of times, leaving bumpy terrain. My tacoma sounds like it's going to rattle and shake apart whenever I go over rougher patches. Is that just the norm? Maybe I'm just hopefully being paranoid. Anyone have similar issues?

Paranoid; maybe? Normal, maybe? This is almost impossible to diagnose and help with the limited information you have provided. But maybe it's your leaf springs rubbing? Good luck!

Tires? Air pressures? modifications? all make a difference.
At the end of the day, our infrastructure is in an overall state of disrepair, it's sad really. Just be happy you didn't buy that shiny new sports car,,, while they sure look fun, those things are nearly useless most places I have traveled. Our friend was on a waitlist forever for the new Acura Integra type S or A spec (not quite sure, one of the premium models) and she is bummed, can't keep tires on the damn thing, they keep getting damaged with all our street plates covering what needs repair.
