Bought my Tacoma a little over two years ago, shortly after I bought it I noticed this sound that sounds like a diesel truck engine, I’ve had it looked at many times serviced it as it was supposed to be, it has a higher mileage for the truck but it’s always made this sounds even after the 90,000 miles I have put on it already.
Has anyone heard this type of noise in there Tacoma? The dealer ship says everything is fine but just thought I’d ask and if anyone has managed to get that sound to stop would you mind sharing?

Normal. It's the direct injection sounds you are hearing and it does sound very similar to a diesel clacking away.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

Yes, the 3.5 makes quite an eclectic symphony of noises. :rockband:

This is both the most expensive and noisy engine I have ever had including the $100 clunkers.

At idle? it sounds like a sewing machine punching its way through tinfoil.

At anything above idle it should be quiet.

Surprisingly the Toyota 4 cylinders with D4S are even noisier. The 2.5 in our Camry is downright obnoxious

This is so strangely accurate lol, especially when you hear it go through it's cleaning cycle

I had severe bearing howl on my Miata. It took me over a month before I realized there was someone in the symphony that might be playing an unauthorized song. :anonymous:
