sounds like rocks rolling on a metal sheet when I turn or stop (sometimes!)

2021 Tacoma Sport - less than 9,000 miles on it - this noise just started 2 days ago. When I turn, it sounds like small rocks on a metal cookie sheet rolling. Does not matter which way I turn. It does this occasionally when I brake as well. The sound "seems" like it is coming from the passenger side. I pulled everything out of my glove box and cleaned the cabin filter thinking maybe I had a ton of debris in there. But is not that. Does not matter if the truck is warm or cold - or if the air conditioner is on or not. This morning on my way to work, I took a hard left turn and punched the gas - made the sound for sure, and then NOTHING after that. I could not get it to make the sound again. On my way home from work today - lots of traffic so I could not go fast and turn hard like this morning - so, it made that same sound virtually on all turns and most stops --

 

That’s the sound a new truck makes right before you take it in for warranty work.

Sorry, I know it’s not funny. I had super nice RX7 when I was in high school (paid for by myself, before someone cries) and mice raided the bag of dog food in the garage and stored the kibble in the vents of my shiny car.

 

Also check under the hood in the windshield plastic cowl area , tis the season for things falling out of tress and squirrels

 

Are you frequently exposed to the sound of “small rocks on a metal cookie sheet”?

 

A friend had a car that would make a heavy clunk when turning either direction, it would not make the clunk on any subsequent turn in the same direction however.

He spent an entire Sunday checking everything in the front end and found nothing.

The battery hold down was loose.
