I’ve tried searching here if anyone has found a source outside of dealerships? Sorry if this has been covered, as all I could find was “ what size size tires can I fit with 3” lift” lol. I missed the recall and I have looked into safety caps and similar options. I would prefer to do the frame swap myself but am having a hard time finding real part numbers etc.

    I’ve found this
    Toyota (51001-04500)
    From Toyota does this fit?

I do not, my truck is a 2006, when it was in the warranty period I had it inspected and they said it was not bad enough. Now it certainly is but they won’t help me

I got the same treatment. Guy that cleaned and fixed mine said tech's are told not to look very hard for problem. Frame is the costliest of all things, they cost like $3000.00 but it takes something like 70 billable hrs. for labor. So something like $15000.00 in labor, that was the quote I got. Also shipping is going to be crazy.

    $3,000 frame?
    That is CHEAP……most are $7,000 plus……

As for the inspection. They are looking for a 10mm hole.
They will NOT peck, pry, push or pick at the frame. All they do is LOOK at it.
If all that’s there is a paper thin piece of rust, but no hole. It passes.
But, most reputable shops will “make it fail” if it’s that bad.

Doesn’t make any difference to OP. His truck is long out of warranty.
If it’s just one or 2 spots on the frame. A patch plate would be cheaper.
But if it’s pretty much the whole frame, then a new frame is the only option.
Well, other than parting it out and buying a new truck.

Oh yeah that is what my guy said. He used to work for Dodge and Toyota. Back years ago Dodge had a recall on drive shafts and they gave tech. a spring loaded punch to test but it was alloy. So hardened steel vs. Alloy which one dented first?
    His words not mine.

So the available frame turns out to not fit and the the direct fit frame is unavailable, I don’t think it’s beyond repair with safety caps. I wish I could just buy a new one

Found a 2021 double cab frame for 1500. Anyone have an idea on how hard it would be to make this work? 2006 access cab. How different are they

If I needed a new frame, I would look at part outs, or at junk yards. Surely someone has a unbent frame that they just need to get rid of

Frames from salvage yards if you can find one that will sell just the frame are about $3,500 on up,and you have too pull all the parts off it,cab, engine, axles, etc.

Why not check with Keystone LKQ. My friend in the car business picks up parts in Wichita from them, free shipping.

I have a similar problem. I bought a new truck. Definitely not worth the hassle and if the frame is rusting who knows what else is. Brake lines rust too...
