Well, our '97 Tacoma's frame finally failed PA inspection (2nd owners - first owner was elderly and decided to not take the discount toward a new truck, and that offer expired in '12). We are prepping the frame to weld on some patches from autorust.com (probably, or our welder will fabricate). But - we'd need to cut off the existing forward leaf spring perch/brackets - and rather than reuse already rusty brackets, we thought we'd get new ones..

Alas, those Toyota parts (48404-35030 and 48407-35020) are discontinued. Does anyone have a source for aftermarket parts that would work?

    '97 XtraCab, 2.7, automatic

    Thanks!

Good luck with the repairs. Please post any pics you can, they may be useful to other members on the forum.
Here are a few links to sources for the front spring hanger. I recommend calling them to verify they are appropriate for your application.

I am in the middle of fixing my frame on my 02. I have been taking pictures and videos of the whole procedure. I will be sure to share.

I cut the frame around that front mount for the leaf springs. In my case, the metal on that bracket is a much better quality than on the frame and is not rusted. I made some cuts along the welds where the bracket matches the frame, and the old crusty frame metal fell off like rib meat.

My frame looked terrible. I cut the frame and can now see inside, and am happy to announce its only the lower 1/4 of the frame that is rusty. The rest of the frame internally is rust free. Regardless, I will be using an internal frame coating on everything.

It is a lot of work, but if done right, the frame will be in awesome shape!
