The rear bumper face bar (cover) on my 2013 regular cab is being consumed by Rusty Jones due to all the salt used on the roads in Wisconsin during the Winter. As such, I'd like to replace the face bar and am wondering if anyone on these forums have found a good source for a pre-painted replacement? I've found it really hard to find anyone local to paint 1 part, much less do it at a reasonable cost.

Various sellers on eBay and Amazon offer what I'm looking for, but I'm often leering of purchasing online as it's hard to tell if the part is a cheap knockoff that will be rusting in a year versus something durable and well painted.

Have you purchased an eBay or Amazon bumper and were you happy with it?

My truck for reference (non rusty side forward!)...

Ebay replacements are very likely Chineseum, junk. That Amazon one you linked is probably no better. I would be very leery of the primer and paint quality.

I'm not a painter, but I've heard that that white is a hard color to match. Many shops shy away from jobs like that because there is so much time in prep/paint that it's hard for them to come out ahead. Unless, you can find a shop that is already in the process of doing a white vehicle.

Is your bumper perforated or just rusty? Does it have to be replaced, or can you just have it prepped/shot? If replaced, you would likely be better off with OEM in the long run. It isn't going to be cheap.

OTOH, the Amazon bumper would get you a cheaper, short term fix...maybe.

You might also want to check with LKQ in Hustisford to see if they can source a decent used one...

Yeah, that's my concern... probably not an OEM part.
My experience has been that once metal starts rusting, it's time to get new metal. I spent thousands repairing rust on my previous Tacoma, only to have it show-up again the next year.

I bought one from Amazon, it came damaged and the paint was flaking.

I figure if I can't find something painted for a reasonable price, chrome might be an option as the finish is usually a little tougher, althought I won't like the look. I could also get a little crazy and do a vinyl wrap over an OEM bumper instead of paint, but I'm not sure how long that'd last.

I broke down and bought an OEM bumper from Toyota, still need to get it painted.
