It also fits the Tundra, might be the size they need but works with our engines as well. I've always used the bigger D3 one on my v6

Toyota specifies different filters for different engines, as do all manufacturers. The YZZD3 is the stock filter for the 2UZ V8 in my 2003 4Runner.

Case of 10 OEM YZZD3 filters from Amazon. Check "other sellers" and you can get it for $48 + change.

I buy OEM filters from Ebay Motors. A Case of 10 filters for $40 and comes with 10 drain plug gaskets.

Has anyone cut open an OEM filter? Wondering about the construction, pleat media, particle size & passing efficiency, drain back valve.....etc.

Be aware, some filters are very cheaply built and have dubious quality.

FWIW, ACDelco and Wix are consistently some of the best filters available.

I steer clear of the Orange filter. Its consistently one of the poorest filters, but has a great Marketing campaign.

Toyota OEM filters have already been proven to be good, reliable filters.

It might depend on your location, real estate is expensive here so they must mark stuff up. I've ordered from Bam Wholesale before, but it takes a while ans you have to pay for shipping. It's about 30% less that way, but it takes a while. Bam -> $56 Dealer ->$75.

Another option is, if you have a buddy that is a professional mechanic they can probably get a jobber rate from them.
