Source for used parts? Anyone parting grey gen2?

Where does the taco community source used parts from (in Fl would be great)? I’ve web-searched the u-pull-it lots in a 40 miles radius and only found one gen2. So where is everyone getting their used parts from? Ideally, a grey truck would be great to find, especially since it seems to be a very popular gen2 color. Hoping to source a hood and tail gate.

I would not put any money into that truck unless you replace the frame... and I doubt it's economically viable.

Or you could have just answered the question of a dismantler source. You gotta get 9k post somehow…I guess non sequiturs is one way.

I'll rephrase: The photo you posted show significant frame rust & rot. I would not put my family in a truck with nearly that advanced degradation. I do not believe putting a new hood nor tailgate on it are worthwhile endeavors - safety should come before aesthetics.

 

Frame rot issues aside, I usually have pretty good luck finding used parts on www.Car-Part.com (or through their app). Prices won't be as good as at a U-Pull place but you're a lot more likely to find what you're looking for. Just checked now and there are a handful of bare frames/sections listed too if you decide you want to do something about that.

Are these parts for the same truck you posted in that old thread, or is this another unit?

If it's the same truck (which was stunning in its rot) @Naveronski was just using common sense pointing out there wasn't much value in putting lipstick on a pig.

Sometimes a common sense answer is better than the direct answer asked for. But, here's some suggestions.

Post in the Florida forum and offer the city you live in. Folks can know how close you are if they have something. Ones close to you can also suggest other sources in your area. And include the year / model of your truck. There is a 2g and a 2.5g maybe making some differences in fitment.

 

Got wonderful results using LKQ Dismantling. Nation-wide inventory got the used parts ordered in grey no less (though they have to be shipped). Hope this will aid someone in the future!
