Is it Friday yet? Kid was turning right out of a parking lot and into traffic. The right lane had stopped and someone let him out but he decided to cross the right lane and into the left lane which was moving normally and he never saw me. Direct hit to my rear passenger side wheel and spun me around sideways pretty good. Hoping my frame isn’t torqued.

So I’m picking up my sliders from eddy on Saturday. I wanna get them put on asap. What’s everybody spraying these things with? Line-x? Rattle can? Bed liner?

Some aluminum bullshit, some steel bullshit, some plastic bullshit, cut some stock bullshit off, replaced it with more expensive bullshit and pinstripes.
Line-x if money is no object and you won’t actually use them. All the likes on Instagram.

Powder coat if you can afford to throw an extra benji at them and really like Starbucks. If you wheel with them you understand they’ll need to be touched up once in a while.

Bed liner if you want to kid yourself that it’ll be more durable and they be non-slip on the occasional use as a step.

Plain black rattle can if you’re going to beat the hell out of them or you’re cheap. Or both.

I may try the spray on bed liner. But I know it doesn’t stick without a lot of prep. I have access to an automotive spray gun and air, would some black tractor paint or something similar out of a spray gun work better?

I don't know if mine were powder coated originally or not they were @HrBrad8 old ones. but they are getting touched up with rattle cans. I am a fan of rattle can on my armor just for ease of touching up. But Line-x is extremely tough and holds up to a ton of abuse. I have seen the bumper that was on Brad's truck and the very minor IMO chipping or pealing of the line-x. Now that was after some hard use and hard hits.

Solid coat of self etching primer and layers of rattle can semi-gloss. Anything else is a waste of money if you actually use the sliders, IMO.

I wonder what 2-3 coats of spray on bedliner would look like.

Never tried it. The process I used for my skids was:
    1. Clean with denatured alcohol and steel wool.
    2. Rustoleum self-etching primer (one light layer, maybe a second layer on parts)
    3. Rustoleum gloss black (it’s what I had around, flat black is fine, two-three layers
    4. Rustoleum spray on bed liner. Hold the can upside down. Two layers.

Yeah took some time with all the drying
