I hate to say it, but the ppl who have moved here since Hugo, Floyd and other storms are in for a RUDE awakening.................It might make for some interesting ppl watching..................kinda like the shit I see when the snowbunnies watch us locals shit at snowflakes...................

The storms seem to be nasty lately............I dread the first REAL tropical shit headed this way...................(as I consider checking my supplies so I can beat the others to the good shit)

Morning Folks! Well HHI is still here but lots of folks are not getting an early start to drive back North. We had several big trees down closing Rt 278 (William Hilton Parkway). Should be ok by Sunup, the Public Service crews are used to storm damage here. Lots of Thunder, lightning etc, not that much heavy rain just strong gusts etc. Thank the powers above no trees hit my new ride!. I just cleaned up my yard and blew down the walk and patio yesterday in the 100 degree heat, now I've got to do it again!

From the drive home yesterday with the new truck ('16 TRD OR) I can say it has about the same power as my '11 TRD OR but needs higher rpm. It rides a lot smoother and quieter and the steering seems better, less wandering at highway speeds which just may be due to my old vehicle being ragged out from heavy loads all of the time versus a new truck. The interior is way better with heavy ballistic style cloth seats that remind me of Jeep Wrangler seats, very firm at first but comfortable. I am pretty short and the ergonomics aare perfect for me so that means you tall or big guys may have an issue, can't really say. Time will tell. I'm still undecieded about the hard folding Tonneau Cover and will have to use it a while and see how it goes, it will be nice to finally be able to lock stuff up in the truckbed. There are lots of swithches and electronic stuff to leard about (got the Tech Package) but the location of switches seems perfect with the rear locking differential, crawl control etc up on the headliner just above the mirror. Other switches are in the middle of the dash just under the wide screen TV entertainment center. (radio, navigation, entune, XM radio, weather and 10,000 other things that have nothing to do with driving a truck). The only "Mistake" that was made in the vehicle order and delivery was that I wanted a "Sky Silver" truck like my last one but a "Super White" one was delivered to the Dealer. But the Tacoma looks great in White also so I am happy in a way that they screwed up! The Stokes Brown Dealership here north of HHI in Bluffton really went out of their way to get the vehicle ready and assigned an addtional salesman Chris Marsh to follow up on the delivery in the shop while Derrick my Salesperson got the paperwork ready. I showed up at 10:30am to see if the truck had arrived and was told it was delivered about 10 min before I got there. They immediatly put it into the process for delivery, promised it for 4:00 but I actually got it around 1:45. I asked them to recheck everything that I read about here on the forum and they showed me the shop check off's. They never complained about the extra work or charged me. They are really a great delership.

It whipped through here fast. One min it was 102 and sunny then 73 degrees, 45 mph gusts and rain so thick it looked like a fire hose. We had roads closed due to downed trees but all got cleared up in a few hours. Coming home from the Toyota dealer I had to use 4x4 to get into my neighborhood, set a new record for the shortest time between Buying and Wheeling!

Everytime I leave the state, I always find OHV parks within a short drive. This time, I'm in Alabama and this is right up the road...
