Do you know your alignment specs to help with the 35s?

FNG here, from Florence. Got a 2013 DCLB 4X4 Sport. Planning on installing some billies, 885's, and an aal pack, new tires. And from what I read today the the needle bearing on the drivers side of the front diff. Not looking forward to removing the the cv axle. I don't really do much offroading. Mostly hunting and fishing with a jon boat. Don't have alot of experience wrenching on trucks, but I did have a miata at one time , that I turbocharged, suspension, diff, rollbar, etc.

I don't know what mine are specifically, since I usually just do an at-home alignment. However, If you are specifically looking to fit 35s, caster is your biggest concern. If you are adjusting caster via UCAs, lower caster will help the tires fit better. If you are adjusting via LCAs, then higher caster is your friend. LCA adjustments are made with the stock can bolts. UCA adjustments can only be made with an SPC arm, or a uniball arm with rod ends instead of bushings (think icon billet arms).

Have you done any camping on Hartwell this year?

I heard the CoE was intentionally keeping the water level down really low.. something to do with the dredging project in Savannah Harbor. I know they've relocated docks at some of the boat ramps further down so they're actually in water.

I've got the bushing UCAs so I'll have to go via LCA. Never done an at home. I'm replacing tires because my alignment was garbage and wore out the inners of my tires and I couldn't tell they had some much negative camber

Was out last week at Springfield. Water is way down but plenty of ramp to get in the water. I don't know how keeping it down would help in Savanah. I'll have to check into that.

@Irongrave is local to florence too, I believe. That's a good plan for your suspension. I have 885s and an AAL and i love the setup

They've moved the courtesy docks out at twin lakes, friendship, and conneross the i know of. They were pouring new concrete footings for the dock at friendship last time we were there.

I really don't know what the level of Hartwell has to do with anything. My dad was talking to a striper guide he knows who told him that. I know the lake is dangerous at the level it is. Way too many humps and shoals exposed.

a "good 'nuf" alignment at home is pretty easy. when you want to really dial it in though, it gets a little more involved. there are some good youtube videos on how to do one, and even a good writeup on here somewhere. if I knock the suspension a little funny off roading, or see some minimal tire wear, I just do a standard tape measure alignment. if I mess with the suspension, I break out my tri-axis lasers and go more in depth.

its a good thing to know how to do, especially since the further you get into building your truck, the fewer people will want to touch it. then before you know it, you're limited to getting alignments at an off road specialty shop that charges $250 a pop.

I knew how to do them decently with the Tacoma, but really spent some time learning when I got my Fiero on the road. it's too low to fit on an alignment rack, so my only option is DIY....
