I'm with you on this, I spent a few years and about 3k building my last AR, I'll be on hold for awhile. But would love a 9mm build.

So... wife took the minivan to the shop for an oil change- http://www.theshopat160.net/

They called and said the cabin and engine air filters needed to be replaced (which we knew) for 20 bucks each. We agreed. ( I know they are cheaper on Amazon, or a parts store and fast to change out).

Went to pick up the van they charged $76.00 labor fee for the filters and pushed my wife on it! They never told us about the labor fee. Most oil change places do it for free. They even told my wife the labor for the cabin air filter alone is 30-45 minutes.

Wifey got pissed; she is not stupid.

Long story short, when I was done with that a-hole, he was misty eyed, refunded the money and apologized nearly 20 times...

I've never understood the logic in labor for those, some that are a huge PITA, sure. But if part of your inspection involves you pulling it out, then there should be no labor charge to simply put a new filter in its place.

That is what all the other places do!

They also checked the brakes and told us they "went a head an rotated the tires". OK. Charged 12 bucks for that too! Tires were already off, and discount rotates tire for free! Got that money back too.

Yeah- I was quite suprised. Been going to that shop for years! Long before I owned my Tacoma.

On a separate note- we prepaid maintenance at a discount through our dealer (further discount from normal due to Costco buying program). Wife took the truck in today- due after our long trip. Dealer said this mileage was oil change, rotate tires and replace both filters, lol. They said charge would have been 130.00- way less than that shop was trying to rape us for!
