I gotta question for you guys.. it's been 3 months since I have driven my truck. It's oil change was due in 1/18 but of course haven't hit the mileage.. I think I remember hearing that oil breaks down over time no matter being ran or not.. do I need to change it before I take it on a Sunday crusie.. I need 4300 more miles to catch up to the date to change my oil on my sticker

Just change it cheap ins. The old saying was change it every 3000 miles or 3 months. Now idk what the time frame is but it's a cheap thing to do especially if your truck has been sitting.

Us turd gens supposedly can go 10k on synthetic, as that’s what toyotacare covers. I still change at 5k though. Don’t know the month frame for 10k

Much stronger value proposition for solar in CA than here; orientation of the house be damned.

Completely different story here; orientation, is everything...

Thanks I have been so busy with work I hardly even think about getting on. I have seen a lot of tacomas on the roads.. I'm always driving to Charleston, Summerville, Dorchester, Allendale, dewees island, John's island .. seems like I make monthly rotation of all those places.. however always in my company van..

almost no trees, and very little rain/cloudy days (inland from the coastal area).

Bright sun from early AM through PM setting.

High school student and staff parking lots now have covered parking- covered with solar panels. Makes sense. CA also has expansive desert area- very large solar farms popping up.

Another thing that make sense is solar water heaters. They are used in Los Cabos, MX when I was there last.

:rofl:Those solar water heaters that aren't meeting expectations. Also no matter if there is no tree cover Solar panels have to be aimed correctly to get optimum solar power production. There is some really good research that has been done on this. Where a misaligned panel can decrease production by 50% or more compared to one that was aimed correctly. It all has to do with where latitudinally and longitudinally you are located as the optimum alignment.

yes, I know. Water has high specific heat. It makes sense in some areas- not all.

One of my apartment buildings in Hawaii had solar water heaters. Free hot water was great to have

There was an interesting debate in Ca for keeping all those water heater power plants up and running because it is costing more to keep them afloat than they are producing power. Also none of them have achieved the power output they expected them to by a long shot. Great experiment though, allowed us to see the downfalls in those systems.

Some of our schools here have solar powered hot water heaters with panels that have an optical sensor so the panel follows the path of the sun to optimize the thermal energy.
