Since I’ve got it torn apart, do you (or anyone else for that matter) recommend getting some axle shims?

*i do have the driveline drop shims installed

 

So with it dropped down like that all you have to do is loosen the bolts holding the clamp things to add or remove the leaf? I'm trying to picture what I would have to do to remove a leaf out of my pack.

 

Yeah you just loosen the centering pin (the nut in the middle of the leaf pack on top) and it comes loose. I used a c clamp to hold them together when loosening and then loosened the clamp enought to install the leaf - or in your case take one out.

 

How difficult are inner and outer tie rod replacements?

You will want to take that leaf pack off the truck. Stock packs you can get away with doing it on the truck... Not with that hella beeffy pack you got.
