Need to find some trails, somewhere to put it in 4wd. Its almost time to start camping again, too. Supposedly after this weekend there are no more 90° days for the rest of the year. :woot:

So the girl and I are thinking about getting a kayak out here. We’ll probably keep it in the harbor area mostly, but also maybe go down to La Jolla caves. Any kayak recommendations? Things to look for, things to avoid, etc. @OCD 08 @dan0mite @anyoneelsewhohasakayak

If you’re using it for “touring” in the ocean, you’ll definitely want one that is a sit-in in the 14-17 foot range with at least a skeg but a rudder would make life so much easier. First yak I paddled was a Tsunami 170 and it was awesome (@OCD 08 has a Tsunami 140) then went to a Pungo 140, then a Lure 11.5, and now a Compass. Last two are fishing yaks but Jeff is making me jealous with all his yak trips he’s been takI got so now I’m considering another touring boat.

Ya, it won’t be a fishing yak, as much as I’d like it to be haha. But we were talking about it last weekend and thought it would be another fun weekend activity for us. I’ll look in to those that you mentioned.

How do I go about getting it from point A to point B though? That’s my big issue. And storage. I don’t have a place to store it since my garage is my gym haha.

I tell people to rent some different kinds and THEN get recommendations. There are the sit-on, sit-in, fishing, racing, etc. It is crazy the options now!

Solid advise...a demo day would also let you paddle lots of different ones at one time.
