Loosely attach the control box as you may have to remote mount it if you don't want to remove the center bar that goes across between the 2 headlight brackets. Also an extra set of hands doesn't hurt in helping getting it positioned and the bolts through.

I didn't have to relocate anything for mine. Mounted mine all up with the cables just coiled up and out of the way. Ended up wiring everything the following weekend since I wanted to replace the Neg terminal to a more robust setup.

Set the bumper on stands. Bolt the fair lead on. Run line through that. Bolt to the winch drum. Set winch in place. Bolt down. Drive truck to bumper. Hook up wires. Tilt bumper back. Run the line in zig zagging across the drum. While applying a good bit of tension till it's spooled in. Or leave it out till we get it on. It's like a 45 min job installing it on the truck.

Even faster if you kick the bumper off the truck like this one guy did many years ago lol

I have a set of 265/70r16 Sailun ATs on stock wheels. They have been sitting for about a year, though.

Looking for a good place to do some camping/overlanding within ~2 hours drive south of Charlotte. Nothing too dangerous/technical. What trails or routes are good?

Check out the Jocassee Gorges area.. beautiful area in the mountains with a couple different trails running through it. I would suggest Musterground Rd or Chestnut Mtn. Rd (links in the signature with details).

I've heard tale of some trails around Aiken/North Augusta. @ThaiChillyTaco has the details on those. Supposed to be just off highway 20 somewhere, but I haven't gotten around to finding them yet.

There are some forest service roads in the Sumter and Francis Marion forests, but that's about it. Gulches ORV is in Laurens, but it is a technical park.

There is supposed to be a waterfall climb in Calhoun Falls that I haven't found yet, also. Supposedly you need a snorkel to do it.

the control box has long cables as i had it relocated to under the hood.
just mount it in the bumper you can mount the box and run the cables later.
