    In NYS we pay the tax when we buy the truck if from a dealer or when we go to register it if from a private party. Tax rates vary by county but are somewhat close to the same. Lets say you went and bought a new Tacoma at a dealership for 35,000 and live in the same county as me where sales tax is 8.75%. You pay $3062.50 tax at time of purchase plus reg fee.
    On a side note, snowplow just went by for the second time today, just now and 5:30am. School had snow day also. SUCKS !!!
