Hey guys. I'm in Charleston and looking for someplace to get my frame Fluid Filmed (or a similar rust treatment).

My 2007 started life up north and has pretty significant surface rust. I had it inspected twice by 2 different dealers and it passed both times, so there's no major problem. I'm just looking to prevent one down the road since I'm now out of the frame replacement window.

What kind of place does this work? I have no interest in doing it myself and don't mind paying, but I want it done thoroughly and done right.

    Thanks.

Fluid film you just spray out of a can. I don’t think you’ll find anyone to do a traditional undercoating here since we don’t have rust issues. May have to make a drive to Virginia or something where they get snow.

Yeah, I suppose that explains why my quick search came up empty. Can you spray fluid film directly over the rust, or should it be wire brushed first? Problem is, I'm getting too old to be laying on the driveway under my truck for hours on end.

I would sand them first to get the rust off then film spray it

I'd be all over that. Still have not heard back from ARB about the template for mine, though... :(

I got mine ordered. Did you call ARB USA? I'd check and see if Wheelers can get it for you.

I didn't call them, I used their contact form. That was probably my first mistake. I'll check Wheelers, too.

Talked to a guy from work today with a white, 2nd gen long bed and passed along the website.
Hopefully he will find his way here.

    silly yankee here!

fluid film is just a wax coating that will wear off in about a year. It’s not an undercoating but that’s a good thing. Coatings crack and trap moisture behind them making rust even worse.

at this stage if it was me I’d take off the bed (it’s actually not that bad to do YouTube is your friend) and take a wire wheel to all the rust back there. Then maybe do a paint or something to have a real coating on it that isn’t a thick undercoating layer like Toyota’s treatment. Then fluid film the whole thing.

YouTube is your friend for taking the bed off and how to do the fluid film. Don’t be shy, the worst that happens is you have Wax on somewhere you didn’t mean to spray it for a few months. Everyone says to avoid the exhaust, in my mind it’s easier to just hit the exhaust and make sure you get everywhere than try to avoid it. It’ll burn off so be prepared for some smoke.

Rattle can the first job and if you plan to re up it’s more cost effective to do the canisters and a latex paint sprayer.

ps FF smells like ass. Wool wax is just as effective and doesn’t have the stench factor. Good luck.

If I’m dropping $66k, I’m buying a slightly used LC. Those things are wayyyy overpriced.

The one I saw was black and had the turd sticker at the rear quarter. Do they come with stickers or did he add it?
