ugly drum smoker if you want to DIY

pellet grill if you want to set and forget (less flavor however)

BGE or Kamado Joe if you have $$$ to spend

I started with a UDS, it required too much attention, but made amazing butts. Now I have a pellet grill and I love it because I can set the temp and walk away. If I had the money I'd just get a BGE or Kamado Joe and be done with it...those are as close to an "all-in-one" smoker/grill that you can get, and it will last you a lifetime if you take care of them, but they are also $$$ up front.

truth. i'd kill to have the extra cash for one of those. but the only "affordable" ones are tiny. the ones with enough grill space for stuff is super spendy. one day ill find someone who has to get rid of one for a move or something im sure

My Weber Smokey Mountain has been great. It's on the affordable side and has dual racks for smoking. I do wish I had gotten the 22" instead of the 18.5", but oh well.

if you have the money/place to store it, it can be used as a normal grill too. you can start using it as a normal grill till you play enough to get comfy. itll probably spoil you though and you'd never be able to get a cheap grill again lol

My chargriller with the fire box has been awesome. I basically have the vents dialed in to stay right around 275-325 and don't worry too much about the swings, foods always turned out delicious. I ain't trying out for America's next top BBQ bill

i think the firebox makes it great. just the body of the grill doesnt leave room for coals unless youre only doing one butt (i have the small one i bought when i rented) and there was just no way to control air on mine even when i was using vents. it could always pull and vent from the lid gaps. i need to upgrade...

I have a fairly new (less than 5 uses) kettle style Weber grill that'll probably be sold if I can use the smoker as grill too.

you can do a lot with the Weber to be fair. There are a bunch of videos on YouTube showing how to cook low and slow with them.

when using yours as a grill can you make a "cool" side and hot side? thats what holds me up on round top grills. i always use one side of mine for a cool side.

Add a half-circle griddle on top and it really makes for a versatile cooking machine.

    Also, Slow ‘N Sear ftw

Should check out the US Foods Store downtown if you haven't already. They had a good selection of briskets, butts, ribs and pork belly last time I went there for pretty good prices.

Dobinson’s coils and shocks. SOS sliders, ditch light brackets, and front skid. Rigid ditch lights. BFG KO(dos) More minor stuff.

Think their main target for the store was for the small restaurant chef to have access to their stuff and not have to buy large quantities for the truck to stop. If it saves you money, take the opportunity. I’m sure their business is dead right now. I supply them products and they ain’t ordering.

That's kinda the beauty of it. No one thinks they can shop there so usually no crowds.
