Hey computer peeps. How do you feel about Acer laptops? Might need a new computer to get me by for my next six months in the sand box.

 

Acer makes pretty good stuff.. you're not buying a name like you are with Sony or HP.

Just don't skimp on the RAM with whatever you go with. It seems to be common for manufacturers to go light on RAM to sell at a lower price point. But you end up with a machine that bogs down once you have 3-4 Chrome tabs and another program open. I'd say 8gb RAM at the least.

 

I've read good things about the Acer Swift line, and I'm not fond of many consumer models of computer products. We are currently using Stinkpads, and they're pretty decent.

Don't forget the SSD! Don't buy a laptop these days without a good sized SSD, 500GB or more.

 

^^^ I should add to look for something with a SSD you can swap if needed, not one that's soldered on to the motherboard.
