I think I prefer Orangeburg over Scumter. Florence is not one of my favorites as well.

I miss small town SC food. Used to travel all over for a good meal.

My buddy lives in Orangeburg it's not terribly bad. He's got a nice spread and it's pretty quiet where he's at.

I live in Scumter and work in Manning. :bananadead:

Well, outskirts of Scumter, 20 minutes outside of town so it is quiet at least.

Manning isn't so bad. It has the small town pokeys which I am not used to being from the Midwest. I don't know how some people get anything done at all.

Agreed though, pretty much all of the midlands is crap.

I can't be the only one who doesn't know what a "pokey" is, right?

Fellow Midwest transplant here as well, and I used to get pretty frustrated when I first moved to and travelled around the Carolinas because of the pace people move at. Once I got used to it it's fine. You need to realize people move at a different pace, don't really adhere to deadlines (I'll call you on Monday at 4pm, they finally call you Friday morning) or it takes 45mins to get through the drive through at the Lugoff taco bell with only 4 people in front of you and once you don't let that stress you out it's all good.

I'm guessing that's what you mean by pokey because I'm used to using it in reference to jail.
