Having access to some more significant off-road opportunities is a big plus too. Been in Charleston since 2015 and man this traffic is killing me. Noticed Greenville has been growing like crazy too, seems almost like a mini-Charlotte now (except with a soul)

It's a corny video but I am thinking of getting the smaller 1. I have guy lines that would go with it.. I never had to order the poles they state the guy lines and poles are for winds 35mph and up

Yep! Asheville filled up with crazies and overflowed south. We looked at travelers rest when we first moved down here and loved it. Glad we didn’t buy there though.

I've been wanting to move upstate for a long time. Just haven't pulled the trigger. Been too comfortable in my job. I think they call it golden handcuffs.
Lugoff, for all it's faults, was a decent small town. Now Columbia has expanded that way and a ton of yankee implants. Housing developments going up everywhere.
Asheville, 10 years ago was amazing. Now it's hardly recognizable.
Not even sure where to move upstate anymore. At least within a decent distance of finding a job and amenities. I want to try and avoid anywhere with future expansion from a neighboring big city. I would love the Walhalla area. But we may end up in the Anderson area where her family lives. When her mom passes, we may pull the trigger. Her brother retired from a home building company and started his own. Wants us involved. He's really a great guy but you know what they say about working with family.

Charleston blew up the last few years. The condo I’m in, they sold all day long for 85k in 2020 when I started renting it. Today it’s 265k which is absolutely crazy. Talk about FOMO.

Greenville housing has ran away too and when you drive through those neighborhoods it’s a 350k house next to a tear down.

Anyone want to go in on a compound instead? I heard the AFT loves those

I got curious and looked at old places I lived at.

    Columbia-
2/2 Loft in a repurposed factory for 1k in 2010. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s 2k now. No availability online and it’s extra boujee now.

3/1 in historic downtown area near the river, 2011-2016. $550 when I had a roommate, $400 when I lived solo. The landlord loved me. Now renting for 900+

    Greenville-
1/1 apartment near Paris Mountain $550, now renting for almost 1k. Not even a nice area, shitty neighbors galore.

1/1 near downtown Greenville, two blocks from my old job. $600 a month. Rent is probably 900+ now.

I guess I get a do-over now Baja Roof Rack, SOS Concepts Bed Bars, Tepui RTT,SOS Concepts Streamline, (mostly)Keeping it washed
The sad thing with the rentals is, they are charging way more for way less on a lot of these old properties. We see it here in the Chas area. Places that were around so long that we remember renting a 2BR/1BA unit for 525 a month...........is now well over 1k. Zero upgrades and the place and grounds still look like shit. Even better are places that are upgrading appliances to add 500 plus a month to rent.................not fixing their building guts and people are having water damage issues from blown (old) lines, leaking windows, clogged drains. When my parents passed, I kept their house. We also have our house we got in 03. Our kid is 15. I figure by the time he wants to move out, you will need to live in a mini commune to afford anything. So I keep both homes so he at least does not have to worry about living in a 1BR and sneaking in 3 others to be able to afford it (2 in the BR, 2 in the LR). Not sure how sustainable this is long term. And it is now going up 26 towards I95 with new complexes in Ridgeville going for high dollar amounts. There is no more true "cheaper in the country" here in my area.

I bought my house for 174k in 2018 now its worth 435k because of the new housing developments that's popped up with less acreage

same here. I wonder if people are inundating their areas too and they hated it so much that they're passing on the fun to us by moving here.

I will be surrounded in the not so distant future! Luckily I have my little 3.3 acres with a little buffer of like minded people.

I'm down on James Island and you should see what places are charging around here... absolutely insane and makes me wonder if everyone is making 250k/year or just racking on the debt. I assume its the latter. I am lucky to have a good landlord who has barely raised my rent over 3 years, and he raises it in-line with the HOA increases. Other units in my condo complex go for damn near 600 more a month!

Don't even get me started on what places look like downtown, why anyone would choose to live there anymore is beyond me.

This is me lol... Charleston has been ruined for me as of late and besides for Greenville, my other option is Phoenix, AZ which has been California'd pretty hard
