Thanks for the links. How do you like it? Any parts or characteristics you'd like improved? Just read up on the link kit. So if I'm interpreting things correctly, the upper links hitting the tank on compression, and the lower links contacting the axle on drop are the two limiting factors, given long enough shocks brake lines, and either longer springs or spring retainers?

We were talking about doing a 3 link with a panhard, with the goal of getting a longer upper link, closer to the center. Would likely involve all new mounts on the axle, including a taller panhard mount., and of course a new upper link mount on the frame side.

Correct that's why Apache off-road links are off set to clear the gas tank at full drop and the lower links are offset at the axle to help slide over thinks . Only think I might change later is the springs I'm running the Dobson heavy springs rated at 1000+ pounds but it's still not to bad tho

Let me get a little further into the build. Still in disassembly mode, so nothing exciting to see. Once I get the frame chopped off and a few main tubes in place, let's do it!

Which bed stiffeners are best? All about the same?

I think some, like the TC version, go up a little higher than the others and ostensibly provide better bedside support. I went with the TC for exactly that reason, but honestly the difference could be negligible and may depend on use case. I got them to support a fiberglass topper and roof rack.

is there much/anything different about the bed in the 3rd gens? I used to build bed stiffeners for 2nd gen guys before they were readily available from bigger companies like total chaos, and the only scenario you needed them in was if you had a substantially heavy bed rack and also did a decent amount of high speed off road driving. surprised you need them with a fiberglass cap.

I may not need them, but I figured it was pretty cheap insurance against bedside deformation. 3+ years and no issues but who knows what the alternative may have been.

Comparing photos on TC site, the top bolt on the TC bed stiffeners is slightly different. I’d probably go that route since they go up higher like @BabyBilly said. Makes sense. Thanks for the input.

I also have the TC bed stiffeners. Pretty sure those work for both 2nd and 3rd gens.
Main reason I went with TC was for the added height and the flat bottom piece so it didn't get in the way of sliding larger things in and out of the bed.

anyone want a Bud Built gas tank skid for a 2nd gen DCSB? this is the 3/16'' steel version. may fit 3rd gen DCSB as well, but not sure.
yours for $100. just needs a wire wheel and some fresh paint. located in West Ashley, about 15 minutes south of downtown Charleston.

You going to be over this way anytime soon? Only takes a minute to put it on the jack and lift it up into place to see.

also, if anyone wants the skid because you weren't proactive and screwed up your gas tank, the gas tank is free. the pump/sender is coming out and staying with me, but the tank is in good shape. it's going to the dump if no one wants it.
