Any of you Western NC folk know any good fishing guides around the highlands area? I’m planning on going through the highland hiker for it but since it’s short notice I don’t know if they’ll have availability. I’ll also be asking in the nc thread.

ECGS installed my 5.29s. Drove up with a buddy also getting new gears and we camped on their property the night before so we were there first thing in the morning. The drive home during the break-in period sucked but at least you knock out about 50% of it on the drive back to Charleston.

If you want to tune your truck with OTT to see if that alone helps with the struggling while towing we can do that! We can also adjust for the new gears if you go that route as well. Let me know!

no but I probably would. Got diffs, Revolution parts, and dropped them off at a skilled builder. Picked up, brought home, swapped them in. Did break in.

I mean if you're sticking to their procedure, yeah, it's gonna add time to the trip.
    REM polish supposedly avoids that.
    Bring a book I guess.

Pretty sure ECGS says to use Lucas SAE 75w140

Break in with a normal gear oil for sure.
Heavy shockproof is leaps and bounds ahead of a standard synthetic, but it'd be dumb to spend $250 on oil you're going to dump after 500 miles.

FWIW I asked ECGS about doing the REM polish and they said it was basically snake oil and they don't recommend it. The guy said they'll take my money if I really wanted it, but in their experience it doesn't do anything for either the break in or in the long term.

I’m thinking I might just drive halfway home. Play golf the next day and drive the rest of the two hours home. I don’t want to take 8 hours to get home.

Just have it done around a holiday weekend. Then you won’t have to be the slow guy. Traffic will take care of it for you! 26 east looked like 20mph all the way from Charleston to Greenville yesterday. Luckily westbound didn’t have near as much traffic

bringing back this conversation, I finally got to go down farther and check out walking stick. Definitely not doable in a stock vehicle haha. I had to back out a little ways to get back to a turn around. Fun little drive though. The dogs and I walked a couple more miles down it and there’s definitely some fun sections in the right vehicle. Thanks for the waterfall trail. The family will continue to go back to that one. IMG_6220.jpg IMG_6220.jpg IMG_6221.jpg

I may try it from the other end to see how long the rough section is.

on a side note, if anyone wants to do some driving this weekend up this way, I’m down.

Think they’re fairly stock friendly? Never been to those. I’ll look them up.

looks a little spicy in some areas. I’m down to try. Earls ford looks a little more doable than Sarah’s creek for me.

I've done Sarah's creek stock. In fact it was on the next day after purchasing this truck and it snowed the night before too. I'm extremely impressed with Toyota 4x4s.
