Always wanted to take the kayak sounds side for gigging/ bowfishing at night.

That's the plan. I'll take a cooler full of whiting and pomps. Whiting are damn good fried! Couple years ago went with a friend on the Chesapeake. We caught over 600 whiting in 8 hours of fishing. Now that's good fishing!

It was fun, creepy, but fun.

I don’t know what I’d do with that many honestly lol. They are good though. If you catch any this weekend and you plan on coming in the fall, keep the heads for bait and vacuum seal them. Mullet and pompano work very well for drum. Pompano is also a good shark bait.

    I don't doubt it!

Eat 'em! They fed a lot of family's and friends. I plan on hitting a few of the "creeks" (where culverts are and small water patches in the marsh) on the island driving down to Hatteras and attempt to throw a cast net for finger mullet or whatever. Have any honey holes to throw a net? If we can catch whiting and pompano some will defiantly be shark bait for the evening hours.

Edit: Also planning on hitting the red tournament in Oct. So I for sure will save the heads.

Not really but there should be small ones at just about every sound access on the way down. Do NOT go to the first sound access past Avon, made that mistake a couple weeks ago. If you want to make a quick detour, the “bay” behind whalebone intersection has been loaded with them lately. The south side of the inlet on the way down is usually a good spot as well but you have to wade and there’s usually a lot of sting rays in there.

Thank you! So just park at that access and maybe walk out on the dock and throw right there? When I was younger ( a child) used to fish the little bridge man that was a blast.

If you’re talking about where the gazebo is, yes. There’s another spot I go around there but it’s private property. There’s normally always stuff swimming around in there.

The little bridge used to be an amazing place to fish, and can still be. But it gets too crowded anymore for me to even want to bother.

Going to be in the Outer Banks the first week in August. Thinking about chartering a boat to go offshore for mahi. Anyone interested?

Yeah...I saw @LocoLocal post and my wheels already started spinning. I’d be interested in the details for sure.

Well from where I am in DC I know it's 4-5 hours closer than Hilton Head, so I imagine it's about the same difference for you.

I have a kayak but it's a sit in, not a sit on top, so it's not great for the saltwater stuff.

    You're a beast, Joe!

Looking around a little tonight it looks like the going rate is $2000 for a full date of off shore fishing with 6 people. They don't really do have days off shore, and that makes sense as its 30-35 miles to the Gulf Stream!

My brother might want to go, but he got sea sick list time we went. Although, I will cut him some slack because the swells were 3-4 feet that day.

If I make the trip, I’d definitely want to do a full day (10+ hours). If it’s a Gulf Stream trip, I’d damn near be completely in.

Only ones that didn’t get sick were the crew, Joe, Ryan, and I. I was getting stink eyes from people while I was eating and drinking during the ride back. :notsure:
