Tac1, is this place 2wd friendly? Not sure but maybe I can talk Jeanne into heading over there.

Yes, very much so! I actually pulled out a lifted Jeep Wrangler that was high centered on a log. I was in soft sand & I told the Jeep guys that they will probably have to pull me out after getting them unstuck. Well, I made it out on my own. OF course, no cameras around :(

Well, for those of you that I haven't texted, I had a bit of a problem at a local dealership two days ago. I have started driving my truck much more in the last month and wanted to make sure everything was good to go. I had test driven a 2016 Tacoma and the lack of low end power had me leaving much to be desired. I chose to remain with my current 2013. As such, I took my vehicle in to get the blower motor looked at as my truck was going on 3 years old and going to quickly be out of warranty.

I dropped the truck off and was told it would be ready in about an hour. I walked to the waiting area and sat down. I pulled out my laptop and entered my password, taking my time, because I was in no rush. Opened outlook and replied to an email...then I see my service adviser approaching me. as soon as he is in talking range, she says "Mr. "AWORTHYOPPONENT", we have a problem..."

Long story short, the "Porter" (no, I have no idea what that is) was driving my truck around back. while doing so, he claims that he "sneezed", having his foot slip off the brake and onto the gas pedal. Naturally...he lost control of the vehicle - jumping a curb - going through a small hedge - and running into a palm tree. Yep...that's right...I know what you're thinking...you read that right.

Eye witnesses stated that he looked like he was joyriding and "trying to drift the back end out". Thus far, the dealership appears to be standing behind their mistake and attempting to make it right. We will see what that entails and the direction I choose to persue should they refuse to "make me whole"...The damage?
    1. Front bumper
      • Needs to be totally replaced
    2. Front bumper supports/impact brace
      • The support beams behind the grille are all bent and tweaked
      • There does not APPEAR to be frame damage as a result of this, but you can barely see the frame...
    3. Front grille
      • Bent and tweaked paint cracked, will need a new grille
    4. Windshield
      • His head smacked the windshield and broke it
      • Will need to be re-tinted aswell
    5. Steering Column
      • They went to drive the truck to the collision center and the steering column fell.
      • They stated that this was a safety feature for accidents and part of the collapsing steering column, but this isn't something that I have ever heard of.
    6. Possible damage that I feel I should be concerned of:
      1. Tire integrity from Hitting curb
      2. Suspension integrity from hitting curb
      3. Powertrain integrity from hitting curb
    7. Headlights (Custom, one off Retros)
      • one of my biggest concerns...
      • The protective film appears to have taken the brunt of the damage. When the grille hit the tree, it bent and slid up the lens of the headlight. The film needs to be replaced, but was DEFINITELY the best investment that I have made in a while...

Any comments from the peanut gallery?

 I would be pissed! Check and see if there are security cameras near where it happened. See if they are lying about it. They better give you a lot more than covering for the damages for such troubles.

Only thing in the area is their other dealership. No cameras that I can see in the area...

I'm not trying to get anything free out of this, I just want to be made whole again...

Wow! The damage sounds a lot worse than the pics that I saw. I hope they fix everything to your liking. I know you are picky with your truck, as I am with mine.

Remember to check EVERYTHING thoroughly and have them use a water hose on your windshield afterwards to make sure it is well sealed.

    No mods whatsoever!
Never dealt with Royal Palm Toyota. My buddy left Palm Beach Toyota, so no more parts discounts. I like Earl Stewart although it's a little further for me.
