what a mission man. the dealer should have just bit the bullet and
just replace everything from the beginning since there was a TSB
for it. At least they are doing it right now, after getting their asses
drilled by toyoto corp i bet

Im still under 5k miles on my truck, but i haven't noticed any noises or
    issues with my rear brakes.

But if im not mistaken toyotacare will tow your truck and supply a
temporary vehicle if needed at no expense to the customer.

You'd have to call Toyota Care or whatever directly. And don't expect the dealer to tell you that, nor offer any assistance setting it up.

Thats why i usually hate dealing with the dealership.

I used to work for ford so I know the BS that customers
    have to go throw.

The dealer wants me to go in next week for my first 5k
service. But i think im just going to handle it myself seeing
as all it really is oil change, tire rotation and all around vehicle
inspection. I rather just do it myself.

I met the sales manager from royal palm toyota. Came into work the other night.

Sucks you had to go through all that crap just to get them fixed.

If I had the space to do it myself, I would. It's really hard to pass up the free services tho...But, there's a satisfaction to doing it yourself too...

After the 2/25k, I'll be doing the work myself.

Definitly understand that, my dad works at firestone. So when
Ever i need to work on my cars he always lets me use his lift.
    Always the biggest convenience everytime.

But i live in a townhome, i would never have space there to do
    All my services.

WOW! That's the kind of BS that gives companies in general a bad name! I'm sorry to hear that but I am glad that they are FINALLY owning it. I had a smiliar situation with my wifes '07 Saturn Outlook. I bought it new in '07. At 11,000 miles I noticed it was leaking tranny fluid where the c.v. axle goes into the tranny itself. It took them 3 times (and a heated argument) for them to fix it.

The dealership closed down 9 months later. I wonder why?

Yeah, I'm in the same situation...I'd have to go to a friends house to do the services

Yeah, that's the guy. Good guy to know. His father is the regional director of Penskee Automotive...he's the guy that gave me such a good deal on mine.

Yeah, they're owning up to it tho, which is nice. I did have to talk to the service manager since the service writer I used was the lead guy. It probably helps that I interviewed with the guy as a service writer and he offered me the job at any of their Toyota dealerships in the area.

Dan, I have had issues with RPB also. The craziest was when I had them warranty the two rear window rubber trim moldings. To do the work, required them to pop off the small vertical plastic trim panels.

The tech brok the clips and still reinstalled the plastic trim. I checked the truck before I left, noticed the problem and got the service writer. He had a look but did the proper thing and got the tech and a parts guy.

The tech tried with greasy hands to remedy the problem. Yes greasy fingerprints all over the trim panel as I watched. Finally, I stopped him and said, order new parts.

Also, while the tech was trying, the parts guy says to me "good find". My thought is WTF.

I also had them do the TSB on the roof rubber strips. Checked those and both were not secured. Fix them myself with no tools in the parking lot.

They also replaced two headlights under warranty. When I drove it at night, I could barely see the ground. I went back and asked the service writer about the headlight aiming when I picked up the trim clips. I mentioned and asked if the had the alignment grid to properly aim the lights. He said no, they just aim them on the wall and bless it.

    WOW!

Freakin' sad. "Good find"!!! That guy should have been too embarassed to even say that! What? Are they going to hire you? Is it a test? Unreal. If you go to this link,

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/260296-rust-issue.html

you will see the great experience that I had with Headquarter Toyota. From the moment I arrived I can sense that they wanted to help me. The tech even told me that he had to remove the bed to access it & he had to remove the rear window. I thought he was just BS'ing me to make it sound as if they are doing me a favor or something but he did remove the bed. I saw it in their body shop. The window was also removed & a new gasket was installed. This was one month before my warranty expired. He could have just done a patch job that would last 3 months & just tell me "oh, well now you are out of warranty". The sad thing is that this is an exception to the norm. It should be the other way around. Guess where I plan to go to when it comes time to buy my next Toyota?

I am a firm believer in treating people like I want to be treated. I work in Retail & I (like all of us) am not perfect but I guarantee you that I will never sell something to someone that they don't need & I will never NOT honor someones warranty. It's a good feeling when someone sees the warranty being honored & that's almost a guaranteed repeat customer.

Yeah, I stopped going to Royal Palm Toyota. They were great for buying, but suck at service. I've found that Mike Mazzone over at Palm Beach Toyota is an honest guy. He will even work with you for pricing, and even checks everything with you after the services that are done.

He's actually the one that pointed out the rust on the drums and told me how to go about having Toyota replace everything so he didn't have to charge when I came back in 20k and was out of warranty.
