Let us know how that lazy spring meet goes.
Looks like a good place to hang around and
Get in the water but do they actually have trails
    Out there?

I've heard there's a lot of trails, obstacles, rock crawling, and even mud. Sorta have a little bit of everything. If you google it, there's a lot of jeep videos out there...we need to do like we did with the hump and flood the inter tubes with Tacoma videos.

Nah...our last trip to the hump showed us that all you need is a pack of cigarettes, a 12 pack and a mud hole...you may not like the new look of the car afterwards, but if a Jetta can do it, I'm sure a Camry can...

That's awesome. Really glad to hear that.

Same thing kinda happened with my grandparents. Had them watch my dog for a few weeks while I was out of town. They weren't dog people...didn't want the dog around. Now she literally comes to our place when she knows we are working to take the dog. Haven't seen the dog in a week. I'm okay with it though, it makes them both happy...gives her some responsibility and something to care for. Statistically, older people with animals to care for generally live longer than those without (given the pet outlives them).

That's a beautiful thing that you are concerned for your grandparents in that way. I lost my grandfather on April 6, 2011 due to Alzheimers & it was the biggest loss I had EVER experienced. He was like my dad & pretty much raised me. I had never even been to a burial until he passed away! Luckily, he wasn't aggressive as some can be when they get Alzheimers. One time I had a customer who's Alzheimers inflicted father punched me in my chest & called me a bunch of names for no reason at all. I didn't get upset because I knew he wasn't OK. I actually felt sorry for him.

Older people NEED to be MENTALLY & PHYSICALLY active. The brain needs exercise too.

I respect you guys for that.

BTW, Dan is correct. It has been proven & it works with war vets also. They need to feel significant, that they matter.

Getting old is not fun...well sometimes it is, have both of the grandkids until Saturday night. This entire parents and grandparents getting older is certainly not fun, but sadly becomes pretty much unavoidable. Keep it in perspective if it is true and possible. Many people live a long time very happy, we seem to notice the worst as they begin to fail. Still the same person, just slightly less capable than before.

    Moving forward,

Tac 1, if you go to larger tires, are you planning a regear?
Worthy 1, are we ever going to have another burger night?
Anyone seen Finks new machine? Bet it is pretty nice.

I've conceded that my truck needs to be raised a bit. I hate to do it but Citrus found the frame rails a few times in the Pits. The open trail fast sections were better than fine. Need to get some S10 springs to cannibalize, already got the longer travel ICON front spacers, so I need to service the front ICONs. Undecided on spindles, would like a set of Camburgs, but don't really want uniballs. Maybe Maxtracs, but I'm afraid it will be too tall. probably a true 5" over stock with the ICONs, spindles and preload set.

As for growing older, let me make these two statements:

    1) Take care of yourself healthwise. Some things are inevitable but I know people who are 10 to 15 years YOUNGER than me & are "beat up" due to their lifestyle. I also know people older than me who are in excellent health. I'm actually 30lbs overweight & need to work on that.

    2) SHOW the people you love that you love them WHEN THEY ARE ALIVE! I don't have that problem but someone in my family who is an all-around HORRIBLE person with EVERYONE except for who ever happened to be her "man at the time" was the one yelling hysterically at my grandfathers funeral & burial. She fell to the ground & I lifted her up ONLY because my grandmother was there. Anyways, you get the point.

    As for tire size,
I ran 285/70r17 GY MTR's for a while with another set of FJ Cruiser wheels that I bought used & eventually sold. The truck felt great to me. I rarely step on the skinny pedal from a dead stop but when I have it has great pick-up. I didn't notice a difference in gas but I'm sure that has to do with my mostly highway driving.

Less RPM's while cruising "may" offset more power/gas needed for stop/
    go city traffic.

It may also be that I'm just used to it. I've never had a vehicle that was economical on gas.

Now, anything bigger & yes, I would re-gear but that's not going to happen. 285/70r17 MAX for me.

One of my High School cars was a 1980 Corolla coupe. The only year with the 4 round headlights. That car had dual Mikuni side-draft carbs, a modified cam, & a geared rear-end from an '85 twin cam so I had 4 wheel disc brakes (which I don't have in my '08 PreRunner). I purchased this car as I described it so I'm not sure on the specs but I can tell you that off the line (when I would install my 215/50r13 slicks) I had more take-off than my friends 5.0 Mustang & my neighbors 1973 Z28. It was definitley a sprinter, 3200 RPM's at 55MPH in 5th gear .

Defiantly need another food night soon. If we all want to do the same place, that's defiantly doable. Maybe we could travel a little further south and get a few of them southern boys to join in.

As for lift, I defiantly hear you on that. As soon as this wedding is out of the way, the next thing I want is a mild lift and slightly larger, more aggressive tires (currently stock size).
