About to be replacing kdss with hard links. Front shock is fudged and I'm not about to buy one even at employee price

Basically the non shock side x2. Just need to extend it to be of correct length on driver side. So keep original kdss sway bar without all the hydraulic shit

If you do that it’s going to be terrible offroad since the swaybars are so stiff. When my kdss fails I am ripping it all out and rolling with no sway bars.

The hydraulic system is the whole reason KDSS can or cannot flex. To remove it and put double hard links would mean you are essentially locking your suspension into place. There would be ZERO flex front and rear.

if it’s broken then you have two options:
    1) fix it - expensive
    2) remove it - free

You’d lose the superior on road handling, but driving it without the system would be no different than driving a Tacoma without sway bars.

Road going side effect is it drives more like a boat, it could rollover easier and insurance could deny you in the event of a rollover.

    Benefits: none for the road.
Offroad you will have more flex and smoother over bumps.

With stiffer suspension you don’t need sway bars as much as you would with soft factory suspension. I removed the swaybar from my Tacoma when I added coilovers and it was worth the negatives

You could technically add regular sway bars, but your gonna need to drill/tap some holes, new spindles, new rear end, bars, links, etc.

My buddy who is far beyond me mechanically is conjuring up some ideas for sway bars and such to basically replace this kdss crap.

If I'm honest, I don't do any hard wheeling. It's more of a touring rig and I don't try to beat up my DD.

I think they make a touring edition minivan :p KDSS isn’t crap, it’s actually pretty sweet for what it is. A big suv shouldn’t handle this well on road and then be able to flex offroad like it does.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
