At 220k mine would pull during acceleration/braking. I guess it depends on the conditions it was driven.

thankfully I don’t have that. Once I replace the CV axles, the only thing left on the front end that I haven’t replaced will be the hubs and LCA’s

Are these LBJs similar to Tacoma and 4Runners where they will spontaneously fail and leave you screwed? I’m gonna crawl under the vehicle tomorrow once I have it and look around. It’s a CPO with 65k on the clock; anything big to look out for maintenance wise? I’m required and given the first 4 maintenance visits at the dealer but will do some upgrades in the meantime.

don't quote me on this, but that was really only an issue on 3rd gen 4runners and 1st gen tacomas due to the design of the lbj's. not sure the gx470 shares the same design - i thought the gx was more related to later gen 4runners. somebody correct me if i'm wrong.

I like that power setup, really clean!

I had an RTMR on my Tacoma, wish I would’ve kept it for the GX but oh well.

Good to know. so @Clark27 - you shouldn't be concerned about having the same catastrophic LBJ issues that the earlier 4runners and tacomas had.

Just rebooted my CV with the All poo kit. I guess I was sort of confused at first as I though the 930 boot was for the inner like how it’s usually advertised but alas it was not.

First time pulling a CV. Wasn’t super fun. Replaced the diff seal as well as the seal at the hub. The old one was falling apart. Luckily had both already on hand.

Anyway. Everything look good to go here?

    Looks good from here.

Most important is torquing everything to spec. Including the axle nut.

Diff fluid usually leaks when removing an axle. Even if minimal, I recommend topping off the front diff with fluid. Or drain and fill.

    Thank you for the feedback!

Got everything torqued to OEM spec. Hub nut was way easier than I thought! And happened to have leftover 75w90 in a sprayer bottle and topped off the diff.

The 2” pvc pipe to drive the diff seal worked fantastically. Used the old hub seal to drive the new on on that end like I saw on a diy video.

Here is to hoping the pass side boot doesn’t take a crap too soon lol.

They are one of the most widest price range used vehicles I’ve seen out of Toyota’s at the moment. A ton up in VA for 8-16k, sub 180k miles and relatively clean.

Saw an extremely clean one priced at 16.5 with somewhere around 160k miles, nice gamiviti rack, nice 2” lift, etc. Was listed for a few months before the seller gave up and traded it to a dealer I guess.

People trying to push them to how clean 80 series prices were/are.
