What?? Escondido most definitely does Costco, I was just in there yesterday. It will be 1100 above invoice for Sport/Offroad and 500 above invoice for SR-5. ( I don't know the other trims ).

What configuration you looking for exactly?

Edit: I should clarify though, San Diego invoice isn't the master list invoice. You need to also factor in a TDA fee (around 544 or something close). Also a couple line items in the master list invoice on this site are off (state lower than actual) by a few dollars compared to the dealer invoices I saw in SD.

Did you make a purchase there and what did you pick up?
What is the invoice for our area? I figure they were trying to get me to sign. I asked about true car and costco and he said they dont accept that for tacomas and their not giving me anything besides msrp. He did show me the invoice actually it was 34,0xx.

Basically, unless you have a great relationship with a dealer or know someone, here is how I've been finding it to break down in Socal (for the dealers that will even go below MSRP to begin with).

Truck + Options at Invoice Price (use the master list to calculate, expect it to be off by a few dollars for small things like d-rings, carpets maybe 10-20 off. I didn't make a fuss about it. Bottom line, their invoice should come REAL close to what you calculate). No negotiating at this point yet from anyone.

    +

TDA: ~550, give or take a few dollars. No dealer wanted to budge on this item.

    +

    Delivery: 900. Non-negotiable

    +

    $1100 (assuming Sport/Offroad) or $500 (assuming SR5)

    That is the vehicle price.

    +

Documentation fee: $80 (can attempt to negotiate)

    +

Sales tax: Depends what county you are in

    +

Electronic Registration Fee - $29 (can attempt to negotiate)

    +

    DMV Registration/Tire fee/

Now, easiest way I've done it is email before and ask if they honor Costco pricing. If they do, tell them what you want that is in their stock and to send you a breakdown of their pricing and what the out the door cost would be. You might have to send this email twice, for some reason if you ask for the breakdown first you get the "I have confirmed this truck is ready for delivery! When do you want to test drive?" but no breakdown. Once you have the breakdown (price won't be broken down on car+options, it will just be a #, then the other stuff (taxes, fees, etc will be broken down), double check the numbers with your invoice # knowledge, make sure they are close. If there is a discrepancy, but a small one, make an appointment to go in.

Once you get there, check out the car, do your thing, drive it, see if you like it, then ask them to talk numbers.

Once back at the desk have them show you their dealer invoice and see where the initial price discrepancy came from. Go slow, see if you can get a couple extras thrown in for free. Inventory is low so it is hard for them to have exactly what you want in stock sometimes, they may have to call other dealers to try to negotiate a trade. So shoot the shit, ask if you can go look at what else they have, take them for a test drive just for the fun of it and to get a feel of the different options. Maybe you'll get an extra $100 off or so or some free stuff thrown in just by being nice. Also, you may find something that has been there a while that you like that they are trying to push out and will throw in extras for free (happened to me once on my search). Would have taken it, but I had my heart set on what I wanted.

If you want a better deal than that, you'll either have to wait, look really really hard, make a connection, or go out of state.

Are you walking straight in or emailing the dealer? I did not purchase from Escondido, I found a better deal for what I wanted at another dealer in San Diego. I can PM you their contact info. I would be very surprised if you didn't get Costco pricing or better. I had no relationship with them or the dealership before going in. I do have to wait a few weeks though since the truck I wanted is currently in queue to be built (I didn't customize it, it is just in the pipeline coming to them soon)

Sent you a PM, sounds like somebody is giving you the shaft there. They are still making tons of profit here in SD at the Costco price.

You can always write an email to Truecar and Costco and your issues with the dealer. If they get enough complaints, they will lose the referrals from Truecar and Costco for all cars. It's my understanding that the only Tacomas (prior to 2016) not covered by Costco, AAA, Truecar and the other "club buys" was the Pro model...but since the Pro is not yet out for the 2016, you should get the discount, especially if you were referred to the dealer by the Costco or Truecar website. If you walked in off the street asking for the discount without the referral, you are SOL.

$179 - All weather mats & Door Sill

Dealers pay Truecar $299 for every sale. Dealers know they don't have any issue selling at MSRP or even under.

I would rather negotiate knowing they saved $300 by my not using a service. My dealer gave me $500 over INvoice. IF They had to pay $300 for a buyers sending service , I lose. The Customer ends up paying the for TrueCar service the dealer's use in higher fees or prices.

The dealer pays true car. True car is becoming obsolete because dealers are refusing the true car prices and just using them to get people in the door.
