Truecar should go back to showing the prices dealers actually pay for the vehicle then

Is it 2WD, no other options? Does that 34900 include tax?? Numbers don't add up if 34900 for sport DCSB 2WD w/ tech package before tax, title, fees, etc.

This isn't a quote...but I just bought my new tacoma last week and someone thought it would be funny to splash green paint all over the driver's side. Be careful with your trucks gentlemen. (And pray for that poor man's soul if I ever find out who did it.)

Anyone having any luck in So Cal? The best I have been able to do is $350 below MSRP through Costco. Orange and Tustin will not budge below MSRP nor match Costco.

I think you're talking about the $750 off directly from Toyota but only if you finance through them. Is that what you meant?

Yeah that's what I meant , they also threw in little things like mud guards etc that wasn't on the sticker. So it was about 850$ off msrp roughly.

Money wise it was only that 750$ rebate lol. So my deal was weak.

However they did take in a car of mine that has been in an accident and offered a few thousands more than Carmax which is why I went with the deal.

Come down to San Diego? SR5 is $500 over invoice and sport/OR is $1100 over invoice. I can send you the # of the person I worked with if you want, but I think it is standard. TDA fee is ~$550 give or take a few bucks, so you need to factor that in over the true invoice as well.

I've read northern California has some ok deals too if you want to drive a bit further. Otherwise, you'll be going out of state and driving back for the best deals.

“I believe there are many ways in which TrueCar can better serve car dealers and my goal will be to earn their trust back and to listen to them," Perry said in an interview with Automotive News today. "It’s going to start with a deep examination of all touch points TrueCar has with dealers today."-- Chip Perry said his goal as the new CEO of TrueCar Inc..

    Not a word about consumers......

    http://thegarage.jalopnik.com/the-war-and-truce-between-truecar-and-auto-dealers-1655728938

    AutoNation recently dropped TrueCar

When they first came out , They revealed the exact cost to the dealer. They almost went out of business as dealers balked and pulled out a they felt it was a race to the bottom in prices.

TrueCar now is a service I would NOT use since the $300 the dealer would have to pay them may end up in my discount and in fact I did BETTER than Costco and True Car (they all use TrueCars web engine even Consumer Reports who charges for TrueCar information!

Best assumption is to take Invoice subtract 5% and go up from there until one feels the price is fair. Forget TrueCar and Costco. Negotiate your own deal.

Also remember TrueCar does NOT show Sticker addendums, Doc Fees and Mop and Glo. So those using TrueCar can and are hit with $1000-$2000 in "additions and fees" when they go to the dealer.

I remember when TrueCar actually listed real dealer cost. That was when dealers had a 15% markup between Invoice and MSRP in the Mid 90's. That has been narrowed to 6%. YET NOE OF THE BUYING SERVICES MENtiONS THAT....I wonder why.Its not like the dealers gave up 10%. That's why I say start below Invoice.

If everyone paid Invoice the dealer would still make 8-10% profit. Think about that. We don;t see it because it comes in the form of bonuses on the back end. My Honda dealer told me they could sell at Invoice all day long and love it....This is why I refuse to pay more than $500 over today's Invoice pricing. On the Tacoma I allowed for more because it as new and popular.

You don't need to pay MSRP. There is no reason to pay MSRP , even in San Diego. Did the contact I gave you not have a truck for you? If they did you should have been in and out in 30 minutes. Maybe give us an idea of what is going on from the minute you contact the dealer? I don't know why you aren't getting the same pricing as everyone else. I could have sworn I saw so many sports while I was at the dealer i forwarded you to but maybe i was wrong. You will AT LEAST get costco pricing here in San diego, don't settle for MSRP.
