They state on their site about restocking fee's. They do that because there are people who will order stuff and not follow through over a long lead time item. The business is completely right to do this for this situation..... especially since they spelled it out for the OP.

If you ran their business, you'd be stupid not to do the same.

Pretty sure you need to work that deal out with OP. SSO can't/won't sell his bumper when he's already paid for it. As mentioned earlier, you could easily work a deal with OP that it ships directly to you from SSO instead of going to OP first and then to you.

Oh my god that was great. I ordered a tonneau cover for my truck beginning of April. Did the same thing. Before I order was told 7-10 days. Day 9.5 I was calling because I hadn't heard anything. It was really hard not to call them, about 3 days later got notification of shipment... WOOO.... just gotta have some patience.

I find it interesting that SSO is claiming that the OPs bumper would have been ready within their time frame. A friend of mine ordered a slimline bumper in December. Still hasn't received it. Also find it odd that they took so long to respond. I mean they are shut down so I would think that they would have time to be on the internet all day. In any case it looks like the OP lost it and couldn't control his tongue. Shame he was silenced, but this probably isn't the place.

In any case, I am done with this thread. Undoubtedly I probably won't be doing business with SSO anytime soon. I work too hard for my money to accept mediocrity. Don't get me wrong, I am all for supporting the little guy, but I'm of the mindset that if you tell someone you are going to do something, you do it. If you can't do it, you make it right. Like many in the business world very rarely do innovators succeed in the business world. SSO seems to be no different. They focus on a product and not the customer. It happens over and over that someone make a great product then someone else takes the business. No different than the McDonald brothers that had their business stolen by Ray Kroc. Ray even went as far as to make a clown that tacked on to the McDonald name to rub it in their face. If SSO doesn't wake up to the customer service concept, they too will find themselves on the outside looking in.

We honestly didnt believe responding would change anyone's mind and I think you've proven that point. He told half truths from the beginning and the public opinion was already set. We felt that reopening the business and ramping up production to 200% was the best way forward. When people started seeing movement on their orders, nerves would calm. We have a solid plan to clear ALL current backorders within the next 8 weeks. Had we not been required to shutdown for half of March and all of April, your buddy would have his bumper. No doubt it's going out the door within days.

We get it. People want their bumpers and the pandemic doesn't matter. We're working day and night to get it done.

Shipping directly to someone else is just fine. You'll have to work out payment directly with him though and he has to contact us with your shipping information.

I guess you must have missed a few posts.

Once again; lead times are not guaranteed and the OP agreed to the 20% cancellation fee when he placed his order.

I'm not sure why this is so hard to understand.

You're not providing adequate detail here. Ordered in December? That's 4 weeks if at the beginning, 0 if after Christmas? SSO says on their website 10-12 weeks and that can get delayed depending. Did they give your buddy an estimated delivery date beyond that?

IF they are shut down, you have to assume that means they are shut down and not in the office. You don't know their situation. They might actually not be set up to run things from the house.

Honestly, I think you assume too much. I know we like instant gratification, but these guys aren't making cupcakes.

    ...stuff
it’s the classic “I want my pizza in 30 minutes or it’s free” mentality coming through again.

if anyone spends anytime on this website, and orders custom made parts for their trucks due to ideas from here or superMEGAoverland-copycats-R-us, they should know that these do not show up to your door in a few days. These parts are fabricated for you, and that takes time. That time depends on how busy they are, how many other orders are being placed, and a whole bunch of other factors that we learned about here. Supply problems, getting fabricators in the shop to build, accessory staff, powder coating operations, shipping. remember, this stuff if custom made for YOU.

If you can’t handle waiting for the products, keep an eye on the used threads or eBay or your local Craigslist.

I have wanted to get a slimline bumper from SSO since they released the product years ago, it just hasn’t been on my priority list. And after reading this thread, that Still hasn’t changed.

keep up the solid Work @SouthernStyleOffRoad, you’ll get my order eventually, and rest assured I will be patient and be able to wait for it when I do.

I ordered an SSO Slimline bumper for my 4Runner last year. It took like 3 months from order to shipping, and it was 100% worth the wait. Quality products take time to make. Sure, their communication could have been better, but its still a product that is worth it

    All the things!
Quality, cost, and timeline... you pick 2, the vendor will pick the other...

Not exactly true, or a good business model, but it applies.

I have stood behind you guys. I made excuses and believed you wanted to do the right thing. Your absolute lack of reply is unforgivable.

@SouthernStyleOffRoad , you’re excuse falls on deaf ears. Simple, honest communication would solve 90% of your issues.

We did reply with the entire timeline of what happened on page 7. We try to be as open as possible. We created a tracker to monitor the progress of your order. Customers get emails every time it moves in the system. We field phone calls and emails and try to respond within 24 hours to everyone. We created auto responders cuing in on key words to give people information immediately. We have a dedicated team to answer questions on our social media accounts. If there is an additional way to be available and more communicable to people, please share it.
