If I had the cash, I think that's the way I would go. Not really sure though. In one sense, I'd like to go with 4.56s to get me back to near stock ratio. That, coupled with a crawl box would probably be all I currently need. Still, the 4.88s would be nice if I ever went up in tire size, but then if I do that, I'd probably SAS first which would essentially be re-gearing anyway, so...

At any rate, I might be going to do some rock-crawling (FL style, haha) next month if I get my new clutch ordered (and hopefully installed, but as long as it's on the way, I don't mind toasting the current one). Should be interesting. Be my first time back to that place since my truck was pretty much stock. I really hope I can make it.

Yea, after driving it around today, I can see where some people choose the 4.56's over the 4.88's because my truck tach's at about 3000rpm's at 70mph and close to 3500 at 80 but I love it. That is where the power is at and now 5th gear feels useable. Plus the truck is getting about 1-2 mpg's better than it was on the interstate.

    Awesome. That should be fun.

Huh. IIRC, I'm sitting at about 3 grand (in 5th) at 70 right now. Weird.

That's crazy. I can't really remember what mine use to run but I want to say that mine ran 3k at 70 in 4th. After driving it for 4 years like it was, now I feel like I need one more gear lol. It's just going to take some getting use to.

I could be wrong. I do tend to have CRS more times than not and I don't have a scangage so I'm going by above indicated 50 is 10 off, below is 5. However, I'm almost positive I was twisting at 3 grand or more when cruising at 70 or above because I remember thinking the RPMs seemed absurdly high compared to the 2100 to 2200 I was used to seeing in previous vehicles.

    Thanks man.

You might jack the rear of your truck up and spin the tire while counting the driveshaft rotations. Just to make sure.

Yeah, I'm kind of wishing I'd have counted the teeth on my front ring and pinions when I had them out to get the spiders welded.

Lol it was a 5 minute job. It would have, literally, taken twice as long to pull my phone out my pocket and take pics lmao. Here are a couple threads that were pretty helpful though.

Awesome. Thanks. Now I just have to figure out which gear I'd need. Any threads on how to do that? I really have no clue. Might could figure it out, but no sense in reinventing the wheel if I don't have to.

I didn't really need to do that part. Everyone that had 4.88's with 33's was going with the 33 tooth, so that's what I did. Search around on TTORA. There were a lot more threads on the subject other than those two.

Well, it's been a few months since I've updated this thread so here's what has been going on.

I installed the CBI windshield brackets and moved my LEDs from the fog light holes in my bumper to the brackets and installed some 4" HID lights in the fog light holes.

    F624F237-7C00-4D3E-B14B-E17970819571_zps_303cb37e159c8642dd7a0eacdd0fc3d98c63bd26.jpg

And I've beat the crap out of the truck some more lol.

And yes, in the first two wheeling pics I am stuck like chuck and the last pic was taken seconds before I broke an axle.

One last picture that explains why this truck doesn't have the crappy ifs cut out and links, one-tons, dual cases and 42's installed yet.

Breakin' ground on the Maison de Sean, huh? Congrats.

Taco's lookin' sweet and looks like you were having fun. :D

I finally got the Odd Green Taco back to being a 4WD back in September after taking the summer off to let my shoulder heal (was too damn hot to be out working on the Taco anyway). I'm ready to go out an play again. Gonna try not to beat on her as hard next trip. We'll see how that works out. :p

Yep. I'm ecstatic. I'm actually looking forward to being broke lol.

    Thanks and yes I was.

That's good. I agree, it was definitely a hot one. Haha, it will be easier than you think since you know some of your limits now. Unless you do like me and continue to push your limits way too far lol. (I broke my last axle on a 5 star trail, if that tells you anything lmao)

The front wall of my bed started tearing, so last weekend I took the bed off and welded it back up. While it was off, I decided to make some frame supports. Tomorrow I'm planning on doing the clutch. I've got a stage 3+ comp clutch, LCE 38lb flywheel, and a Marlin Crawler short throw. Also doing the rear main seal and whatnot. As you can see it needs a bath, so that might happen as well.

I'm :jellydance::jellydance::jellydance: of the whole truck. Nice work Sean. Your truck is one of the most badass IFS trucks on TW. I hope mine is too once it grows up. :D I was forced to step up to a BudBuilt front skid though after I tore my factory one off the truck back in December.

Hey, Sean, I meant to ask you: have you noticed any relation to popping CVs with the tires aired down vs when they are aired up? I'm just wondering because Citrus has eaten 3 CVs (mostly sand and hard red clay) so far while I didn't break any on the rocks at Hard Rock. The only difference is I was aired down to about 15 PSI and Hard Rock while I've never bothered to air down for Citrus. I'm thinking I may try airing down during the next meet at in a couple of weeks and see if that makes a difference.

    Thanks man.

Lol thanks man. At least you won't have to worry about ripping it off again.

I've blown them aired up and aired down. I run aired down most of the time and the couple that I blew aired up, I had the wheels turned at an extreme angle. Actually, to that point, most of the axles I've blown were because the wheels were turned, I took a bad bounce, or both.
