    Thanks @.煒 !
Curious, how are you finding up to date info on SpaceX?

Starlink is creepy if you ever see the satillites from the ground. They're in a long line like landing lights in the sky. I've seen parts of the constellation a few times from here, it's kind of unnerving.

That and all of the other stuff up there. I think there’s at least two other internet systems similar to Starlink currently in the process of being launched. Not to mention the junk..

I’m not a fan of these systems- my interest lies in the reusability of orbital class rockets and the return of human flights from US soil.
Every SpaceX success, whether related to crewed activities or not, brings us closer.

BTW, this is my go to site for planning observations of launched stuff-

Nasa and their partners have built some kick ass robots/probs that have lived well beyond their planned mission parameters.

If the JWST has a similar lifespan, we’ll be getting amazing science for decades to come.

Edit: Just saw this on the JWST wikipedia page -
    Mission duration 5 years (design)
    10 years (goal)

    Guess they have lower expectations...

    Yes.

What a debacle. Headlines saying NASA’s billion dollar telescope needed glasses. Congress threatening to pull funding. I always felt bad to the guy/gal(s) responsible for the miscalculation in the primary mirror...

The repair was ingenious and 100% successful .

May 20, 2020 will mark 30 years in use with estimates of continued operations for another 10-20 years.

Oh! Is that the one that's going to go out past the moon's orbit and put up a shade to block out the light of Sol?

Hope they can finish it before the rocket it's going to launch on becomes extinct.

    Yessir it is.

The location is at the Earth/Sun Lagrangian Point 2 which should offer a relatively stable orbit at the cost of minimal fuel.

They’re attempting to keep it as cold as they can because it will observe in the infrared.

I can't wait for the next generation of non-mass constrained, starship launched scopes.

This is mainly for staffing up 4 production shifts for 24/7 operations, but engineers, supervisors & support personnel are certainly needed too. A super hardcore work ethic, talent for building things, common sense & trustworthiness are required, the rest we can train.

My roomate worked for SpaceX when I lived in Torrance. He got suckered in on a 4/40 work schedule as a production supervisor, yet suspiciously was doing more like 6/90. His only defense was the amount on his paycheck was truly retarded. A couple years of that and you'd have quite the nest egg.
