I was wondering the same thing so i turned to the Google.

"Florida was selected for two reasons: the fact that it is relatively near to the equator compared to other U.S. locations, and the fact that it is on the East Coast. An East Coast location was desirable because any rockets leaving Earth's surface and traveling eastward get a boost from the Earth's spin" https://www.livescience.com/32721-why-are-rockets-launched-from-florida.html

The east coast thing is BS. We could shoot everything off from Vandenburg, CA or the new Boca Chica, TX site (same latitude) and point it east if we choose to. They use the east coast because if a rocket fails theres a few thousand miles of ocean before another piece of land to hit which was a fair consideration in the era of mercury-redstone.

Plus the govt had a bunch of empty land in Florida that they kinda sorta stole during WW2 so why not use it.

One of my AF Wx buddies let me know there's lots of talk about delaying the launch attempt past this weekend. There's a call for very similar weather to yesterday this weekend. Estimated 40% chance that the launch window will be favorable.

I would trust a convicted pedophile with a baby before trusting anything air force weather says.

Musk: “If you two fuck up my Dragon, you’ll end up vaporized like the guy behind me. Yes, my suits ARE that awesome.”

Fiendish laugh from behind his mask, some handwringing like Montgomery Burns edited out of the broadcast..

Also, closer to equator = more boost.

Love that movie. Good book too. Leave it to Carl Sagan to paint an image of us at our worst as well as our best.
