Bezos sees it as an investment, I think the passion is more in Musk’s blood.
The way Musk has set up his other companies for the ultimate goal of interplanetary colonization seems to reflect that in my opinion.

Blue origin is more about simulation and doing it on paper than spacex, which is far slower than real world experience. Sooner or later, I expect they'll build something useful. Bezos seems to be very patient.

    Like his Tunneling Company.

Dig tunnel, add airlock. Works on Luna and Mars.

At some point though, Starship will be operational. Game, set, match.

Have seen videos of Royal Navy trials, nothing from USN (hard to imagine they're not trying it, though).

    EDIT to add some thoughts:
Can certainly see the advantages for getting people on/off ship quickly, but you're definitely an obvious target while in the air, and I can't see an easy way to accurately bring a weapon to bear until you're solidly on the ground with the jets spooled down to minimal power.

I know next to nothing about the USN. The video I watched was the same one that you posted, but titled as USN. :sorry:

I was reading an article about USN jetpacks. Where is makes tons of sense is during a boarding or interdiction. Normally you have a team on RHBs and a team in two helicopters. If the boat doesn't respond they both hit at the same time. Problem is that's only two attack points and it's possible to pinch them with trained security forces. With jetpacks you could break up the teams better and land in spots the helicopters can't deploy fast ropes. More drop points could mean a better and safer hit of a possibly hostile crew.

You mean you don't just jump on the narcosub and bang on the hatch?

    LOL.

I'm talking about areas like the North Korea embargo or the Red Sea antipiracy mission. It's all theory anyways since I think they've had to board only a couple of ships that way in the last two decades and both times it was just miscommunication.

Still it's a hypothetical where jet packs could be used over conventional vehicles.
