Indeed. Sky view is fun. Sky Safari plus...

But I guess I’m old school and don’t like to be dependent on my phone to that extent.

My kids love SkyView. It’s a nice reference for when you are just out and see something that you quickly want to identify.

I like how it can see through the Earth.

I pulled it up when I made the post and smack in the middle of my screen was the Hubble. Neat stuff

I’ve used a freebie “ Planets”. Worked pretty good but I just gave Skyview a look. Much better

I agree. I keep one of the old sky map pinwheel dealies in the trailer for camping. I always forget to turn the brightness down on my phone before I open up the Sky Map app so then I get to let my eyes readjust. It is handy though.

    WATCH LIVE: STARLINK MISSION

SpaceX is targeting Monday, October 5 at 7:51 a.m. EDT, 11:51 UTC, for its thirteenth Starlink mission, which will launch 60 Starlink satellites to orbit. Falcon 9 will lift off from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Falcon 9’s first stage previously supported launch of Crew Dragon’s first flight to the International Space Station with NASA astronauts onboard and the ANASIS-II mission. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. One of Falcon 9’s fairing halves supported two previous Starlink launches.

The Starlink satellites will deploy approximately 1 hour and 1 minute after liftoff. You can watch the launch webcast here, starting about 15 minutes before liftoff. If you would like to receive updates on Starlink news and service availability in your area, please visit starlink.com.

The green test current happening at Stennis runs from before launch to burnout of engines - which is the entire flight of the core stage (except for the free-fall into the ocean.)

I believe the Orion is already at Kennedy. It will be tested with the core stage before actual flight.

I am really curious as to which testing is insufficient in their minds?

I’m not an expert but I got the sense it was a full mission, end to end, software test.

The same type of test that was omitted from the first Starliner mission which could have uncovered that anomalies that contributed to the failure to achieve many of the mission goals.

SpaceX launch gremlins took a nap.

Beautiful launch and recovery of the first stage. Recovery of fairings and deployment of the satellites pending..

One fairing caught. The other’s being fished out.

    Successful deployment.

    Amazing indeed.

I watched the live broadcast. At one point they had a shot from JRTI of OCISLY being towed with the F9 on it. I tried to find it to post here but no bueno..

Local news actually interrupted their own morning show to watch the launch.

Nice to see so much national interest in this.

You would think with as thorough as people think NASA are, that they would simulate everything a few thousand times before actually launching a rocket. Boeing's last demo mission made me rethink that however...
