Hah! Just saw some pics someone snagged of the booster returning to port and it looks like they did some heavy improvising. Sounds like the Octograbber didn’t latch all the way so they used shackles to secure it!

I remember reading, back when it was first damaged, that with the distributed arrays available now that there isn't enough of a use case for another immobile large dish radio telescope. It would be nice to have but the builds they've done in Chile really made Arecibo a tough sell to governments and institutions. That lack of a solid reason why to keep it kept up is pretty much why it was falling apart even before this level of damage happened.

Still sad to see it go.

It was pretty decrepit towards the end. The antennas needed major refurbishing again and had lost most of their resolution. The system to adjust and aim them wasn't working quite right either.

Again I'm not saying it had zero value. From what I read the perceived value in the system no longer covered the repairs that were needed after newer multi-dish arrays came online that could outperform it. I'm sure there are things Arecibo did that were unique but it seems the scientific community at large that controls the funding didn't see value in them. Maybe that will change, priorities often do.

Cool. I had it up on my phone and TV..

I’ve seen the last few RL launches from NZ. Not as slick as the bigger companies but it seems they’re doing a nice job carving out their niche. Can’t wait for an Electron going up from Wallops...

This was the worst webcast crew, I swear. My kids were asking 'where's the telemetry?'

As we enter this time of Thanksgiving, I’m thankful I am not a NASA astronaut assigned to the Starliner Program. :D

Edit: This post was for comedic purposes only and not meant the denigrate NASA astronauts in any shape, form or manner.

Cloudy evening here, this is all I caught of the actual rocket, all the rest was just glowing clouds.
Hurray for the 7th landing of this booster, is this a new record?
