Methane fueled fire and explosion under the skirt. Also looks like they ran out of fire water.

What are you talking about. That's just their rapid 100 foot launch capability test. SN10 took off way faster with that controlled explosion under the skirt over the use of the actual engines.

Seems the landing gear didn't fully deploy or collapsed causing it to build up methane while the skirt was too close to the ground.

There was fire starting with the shut down of the second Raptor (at landing) all the way through the RUD.

No FTS is mounted mid rocket. This was a failure at the bottom. I'm betting fatigue from landing legs created stress fractures. Could also have been them spraying water on to a still frozen tank to put out that fire when it landed. Really I blame Tim Dodd. Right as he said "we need to start dumping footage" and looked away... BOOM!

The official feed didn't have the RUD. Is it on the NSF video?

It landed hard enough to bounce so it wasn’t as soft as a ‘soft landing’ implies..

    Thanks, I'll go look.
I didn't see that. I'll have to watch again. Then again, it was the first time they've landed a Starship.

Still, they got the landing - now just to get it softer still. And maybe make sure nothing shook off.

A bunch of technical risk got retired from this demo at least, wrt engines. And the carcass looked pretty recoverable for analysis purposes (lots of fire, but it's sitting next to the pad)
